My Question or Issue
When I swipe to add a song to queue from a playlist or search it adds it to the end of queue (how it has normally and always been for me), when I go to an artists profile and swipe to add to queue it will add the song to the front of the queue (the next song to be played). I am unsure why this is happening if it is intentional or not and I also have not found a way to disable this. Thanks
Hey @Swagswag21, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
This behavior is expected and intentionally different based on the context. From playlists and search, swiping adds to the end of the queue. While from an artist’s profile, it adds to the front of the queue (effectively playing it next). This is because the app assumes if you’re swiping directly from the artist’s profile, you’ll want to hear it next.
There's no option to disable this specific behavior within Spotify's settings, however, I will make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks. You can also submit a new Idea about this as they do reach Spotify internal teams.
Hope this helps!
When I swipe right on a song, it is added to the top of the queue, that's not how a queue works, that's called jumping the queue. How can I change it back to "add to queue" (at the bottom where it should be)?
I don't want to use the three dot menu, that's just a painful process!
Update: it depends where you are when swiping. If I'm in artist, it adds to top of queue, but if I'm in album it adds to end of queue. Eh?

Hi, @jjnevis,
Thanks for reaching out!
The content you manually add to the queue whether via swiping or from the three dots menu takes priority over the rest of the items in your queue, meaning the app will play them first before moving on to the rest.
In general, it shouldn't matter where you are when swiping. Here's an example: you're listening to an album, but then decide to manually queue a bunch of songs from another album - the app would put them as next on the list, with the first one being at the top, followed by the second one and so on.
However, there's a new behavior that's currently being tested for some users where content queued from the artist page will be added to the top of the queue. You can still rearrange the songs by using the button on the right and dragging them to the desired location in the queue though.
For an in-depth view of how the queue works check out this article.
In case you meant something else, feel free to elaborate further or share a short screen recording which captures the exact behavior so we can take a closer look.
Cheers 🤘
Edit: apologies - I've just reread your post and noticed the bit about artist page, thanks
I've added two images to illustrate my point...
I NEVER want to see "added to top of queue", as you say, I can move it to the top in the unlikely event I want it there. If I goto album and then swipe, it functions as expected, but when in artist it adds to top of queue, wth!? (The screenshot was taken to capture the little popup message that comes after the swipe right action to add to queue)
Spotify version 9.0.66.655
Thanks for clarifying, @jjnevis!
I see. Looks like you got to try out one of the recent changes our tech folks are working on.
At Spotify, we're often testing and launching improvements to the app. This means you might occasionally see something your friend doesn’t, or get a new feature to try temporarily.
Your feedback on this is important, thanks for sharing it here - we appreciate it.
The Community is just a post away if something else comes up 👍
Take care!
**bleep** (edit: that bleep is for the three letter abbreviation of "oh my goodness", not sure why that gets bleeped), thanks for clearing that up, it was driving me nuts. I think that experimental features should be flagged in some way so that my sanity is kept intact. I was seriously considering changing streaming services. Please feed back to them that this "experiment" must never see the light of day! They could make swipe left "Jump queue" (although NEVER interrupt a song, it does my nut when people accidentally touch a song and interrupt the queue, there should be an "are you sure you want to interrupt your carefully curated queue"? Popup), that might be useful.
Thanks for the info!
My two cents: don't make this a feature for two reasons:
1) it's confusing, unexpected behaviour
2) it's incorrect behaviour - we always join a queue at the far end.
This experiment activated on my device this morning, I thought I was going insane.
I just wanted to express support for everything jjnevis said.
How about adding this as a new feature?
- Swiping to the right adds song to the queue, wherever you are
- New: swiping to the left jumps the queue and adds the song to the top

My Question or Issue
I've noticed recently that when I add a song to my queue it will sometimes place the song at the top of the queue. It seems to only do that when I add a song from the Popular section on artist's pages.
Is this a bug or a new feature?
