My Question or Issue

In the pull down bar that's in my notification area there are four already finished podcast episodes that I'd really like to get rid of. some of them have been there for weeks and won't go away no matter what I try. I never downloaded these episodes or added them to my episodes or anything. I only played them from start to finish.

If I swipe to one of the episodes and tap it the episode doesn't even open, instead the episode I'm listening to at the moment opens up. If I tap and hold the episode it shows me a delete option, but nothing happens when I tap it. It doesn't go away, it still displays the delete button. The fact that these old episodes are always displayed when I use Spotify doesn't impede me in any way but it stresses me out. How do I get rid of this?

Hi @kd5dq-_srlmip,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

Please try the following:

  1. Go to your phone's Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Background App Refresh.
  4. From the list of apps shown, toggle on Background App Refresh for Spotify.
  5. Restart your phone and check if the playback notifications have disappeared.

If it doesn't do the trick, please run a clean reinstall of the app, as this one is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Let us know how this goes.

I'm having the exact same problem! Did you figure out a solution to this?

Thanks, Sophie.

Hi, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A71 and some of these settings appear to not be available. "App refresh" doesn't seem to exist but I'm having the exact same problem as this user. I have cleared the cache on the app, but everytime I listen to another episode of a podcast, it's added to the list of episodes in my notification bar that is always there.

When I long-hold on the notification, it gives me an option to delete it but when I press it, nothing happens.

Is there an alternate solution you can recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Sophie.

Hi @SophRich123,

Thanks for posting on the Community.

Could you tell us if you already reinstalled the app on your device? If so, we recommend that you go to your phone's settings screen, scroll to and select "Apps", then select the desired app. Afterwards, select "Notifications" and toggle off the Notification settings of Spotify. Once you do this, restart your device and let us know if the issue persists.

Keep us in the loop!

What about the desktop application? I have already solved the problem on my iPhone, but can't figure out any solution on my laptop. Thanks!
