Android Auto Issue

I have an HTC One (M9) and am having a weird issue. I can connect my phone to my 16 GTI and use Android Auto. The connection works ok until I open Spotiy from the AA menu. Once opened, AA loses its data conection from my phone. The usb config goes from MTP (Media Trasfer Protocol) to Charging Only. This change stops the data transfer. Have anyone had this issue? This happens everytime. Not sure if its a Spotiy issue, HTC issue or Android Auto.
