Android's app beta version 9.0.48 crashing

We've received reports about the latest beta version 9.0.48 being unstable. The app may crash when opening Your Library, and playlists, albums and artist pages won’t load: an error message “something went wrong” is shown. It’s as if Spotify is offline, despite having perfect internet connection.

Hi folks,

Thanks for your patience while we investigate this issue.

We're happy to announce that this should now be fixed for everyone - just make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Cheers 🤘

My Question or Issue

Everytime I open a playlist or album, I get a "something went wrong" error and then it crashes. When opening an artist's page, it opens in offline mode even though I have internet connection

This has started in the last few hours and I don't know what triggered it. It's working fine on Windows.

I've cleared cache, data and done a clean reinstall. Spotify version is 9.0.48.169

Hello, the same problem just appeared in my Spotify app. I am using version 9.0.48.169. This is really frustrating and not very professional.

Hey @Kasmori

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, are you using the Alpha or Beta version of the app? If not, could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? That way we can avoid repeating any steps.

If you haven't tried using a different internet connection yet, we suggest that you do so to see if the same happens. If you've been using WiFi, you can try with mobile data to test this.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Kasmori

Hello,

Thank you for your quick response.

I initially used the beta version of the app, but when the error first occurred, I opted out of the beta program and reinstalled the regular version. Unfortunately, that did not resolve the issue. I have also tried a different connection, cleared the cache, and logged in and out, but the problem persists. It appears to be a specific issue related to Android 15 and the Spotify version 9.0.48.169 that I am currently using. The app works normally on my PC (Windows) and through the web version.

Hi @Kasmori

Thanks for your reply.

Kudos for the troubleshooting steps you've tried! Could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update?

On another note, we suggest that you try clearing the full app data by heading to Settings > Apps > Spotify > Storage > Clear cache and data. Note that this will log you out and reset the app settings.

If the issue persists, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your phone to see if they can replicate this issue with their account?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Kasmori

Hello,

I have tried your idea to clear the cache and data which didn't fix the problem.

I also tried a different account which didn't work either.

As is already said, the problem is just on the app, I can use Spotify normally on my PC or in the browser.

My Issue

every time i try to view a playlist, artist, or album, the app does not display anything on each page but displays an error message, but interacting anywhere in the app furthermore leads it to crash. it keeps thinking i am offline, but song streaming works fine if i search songs and play them, even if i dont have any downloaded songs from performing a clean install. lyrics are also displaying fine, just nothing from albums, artists, or playlists. i have tried mobile data, my job wifi, my home wifi, and my car hotspot, but have gotten all the same results even after clean installs and restarting my phone.

this is what displays for artists (unless i have downloaded songs in which they would show):

and this is what displays for albums and playlists (nothing even if there are downloaded songs):

1000033504.jpg

(again, interacting with any of the buttons would just leave the app to crash)

i have literally gotten all the same results from all the troubleshooting steps i have taken:

1) force stop the app and clear cache.

2) force stop the app, clear cache, and clear data.

3) force stop the app, clear cache, clear data, and uninstall the app, then reinstall the app.

4) force stop the app, clear cache, clear data, uninstall the app, power down my phone, power it on, and then reinstall the app.

this is just to show i am doing all i seemingly can so that you know its not just a simple issue where i can just reinstall the app, but even after all these steps i observed the issues continued to occur. its been happening since the morning of the 20th, yesterday, and finally i got time this morning of the 21st to try to troubleshoot.

thanks!

Android 15 (OneUI 7)

Happens on Artists as well.
Also adding one more problem.
Out of random, when using the "Your Library" Spotify crashes.

Remains in v9.0.48.225
