App crashes when playing podcasts

App frequently crashes when playing podcasts. Has been going on for months. Have tried force closing the app & restarting my device (android phone), even uninstalling/reinstalling app. Saw that this was posted in May of this year & was listed as resolved, but I am still experiencing it months later. I have only noticed this happening on podcasts, not songs. I have been a premium member on a family plan for several years, not sure if that makes a difference?

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome. 

We understand you've already tried a reinstall of the app. We'd like you to try a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the app, to see if that makes any difference. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this issue. You can find the steps to do it here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

• The make/model and exact OS version of the affected device.
• The exact Spotify version you're running there.
• Does this happen when playing a specific show/episode? If yes, share the link to it with us.
• When playing this content, do you use a Bluetooth device such as a speaker or headphones?

Just coming across this as I've been having the same issue! Any podcast episode I'm trying to play causes the app to crash. I'm using OxygenOS 14.0 on a OnePlus Nord N30 5G phone. I'm using Spotify version 9.0.96.826.

Would really appreciate any help you can give.

I am having the same issues as of today with my Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. Uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared all cache and data.. nothing is working. I can play music okay, but as soon as I try to load a podcast, the app just completely shuts off.

I'm on a Motorola thinkphone, but same issue here too  I tried the suggested steps, but they didn't resolve the issue

Also having the same problem; the app crashes when I try to play any podcast. Music works fine. This issue started today. Tried restarting phone, uninstalling/reinstalling Spotify app, and clearing the app's cache. Happens whether or not I use bluetooth headphones.

Me too!  Just started happening today about an hour ago.  I have a Samsung Galaxy s24.  Only seems to be podcasts.

Same thing. I've uninstalled the app multiple times, cleared the cache and even updated my phone and still only with podcasts the app just closes. Using a pixel 8

I can no longer listen to podcasts on my android app. It's on the latest version 9.0.96.826. I've done the clean reinstall and it's still not working. When playing this episode the app instantly crashes:

Listening to it on the webapp works fine. Listening to music in the app works just fine.

I'm using a fully updated Samsung S23.

Same here I just noticed this issue today. I'm on a Google Pixel 6 running Android 16. I tried updating the Spotify app,  restarting my phone and clearing Spotify's cache. I didn't want to uninstall and reinstall and judging from the responses above, it wouldn't have helped anyway.

Same here...yesterday in the evening the app ran well and i've listened to a podcast...this morning the app crashes when teying to play a podcast, no matter via bluetooth or not, no matter via podcast playlist or directly, no matter via downloaded episode or new one...no app updates happening between yesterday evening and this morning...strange...pls fix...

Same here.  Seems to be podcasts only, music is fine.  Only started today, as I was listening to podcasts all day yesterday.  Whenever I try to play a podcast, Spotify closes immediately.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S24.  Have done the full clean reinstall, restarted my phone several times, cleared the cache, uninstalled/re-installed Spotify app several times, turned off battery optimization, etc.  

How do we let Spotify know?  Please fix asap! Can't live without my podcasts.
