App disappears from notification bar and lock screen on Google Pixel 2XL

My Question or Issue

 When playing music and then locking the phone the app isn't available on the lock screen, nor in the notification bar when unlocking the phone. The player bar also sometimes disappears inside the app, but navigating around a bit usually brings it back. I've tried all the tricks with power and notification settings to no avail. Quite annoying this!

I have the same problem with the p10 lite after the  8.0 android update

I found this thread with similar issue with comments from Spotify: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/Player-not-showing-in-notifications-bar-notifications-tray-...

They recommend deleting the app and reinstalling it. I will try this in the morning and report back.
