App on Ice Cream Sandwich isn't working

Hi guys,

What's being done to resolve the problem of the Android app crashing every time it tries to open on Androids running on Ice cream Sandwich? Android Market is full of reports of this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.spotify.mobile.android.ui&hl=en (sort by newest). I love paying for my premium service, but if the mobile portion won't work then that's a huge problem!

Thanks.

The Galaxy Nexus (and ICS) is officially unsupported. Here's the thread in the ideas forum asking Spotify to get it together and update the app: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas-and-Feedback/Spotify-needs-to-support-Android-3-Honeyc...

However, in the meantime, try deleting the Spotify app folder on the SD - this can be found in /Android/data/com.spotify.mobile/android/ui

Also go and take a look at the thread I started here: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas-and-Feedback/Spotify-needs-to-support-Android-3-Honeyc...

Sorry, no answers, but at least we can all log our 'idea' of ICS support in one place.

Spotfy worked the first couple of weeks on my Galaxy Nexus, but now it won't even open the app anymore.

To get it working again (in the short term) you can try a couple of things. First is to locate and delete the spotify folder on the SD card - /Android/data/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui). Second is to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

The first method normally works for me - at least for a few days until it starts happening again. Makes syncing tracks for offline use a bit pointless though.

Fully agree this needs to be sorted a.s.a.p. Not working on ICS.

If it's not fixed, then plain and simple I'm going to cancel my subsciption, and Spotify can wave goodbye to my money.

Spotify doesn't work with ice cream sandwich, it crash of log out instantly.

We are paying for this service, just fix it!

This better get fixed real quick.. ICS has been out a couple of months.

I hope they offer some sort of discount as a patch for the time and money lost.

I must be lucky then. Have ICS on my GNex and it was the first app I installed. Never has any problems with it running on ICS.

Sometimes it will work. Sometimes it will work for a while (days, weeks) and then start acting as described. Spotify just plain doesn't officially support anything higher than Android 2.x though.

Here is the thread in the Ideas forum to post your vote against to make Spotify aware of the numbers of us this affects: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas-and-Feedback/Spotify-needs-to-support-Android-3-Honeyc...

I've noticed on my VZW Galaxy Nexus that if I create a new playlist on my desktop, then open Spotify on my phone Spotify crashes.  I have to uninstall and reinstall the app then it works again.  Really strange.

Hi guys, so I had major issues with my Spotify and I fixed it.  Download Spare parts from the market .. ensure that compatibility mode is enabled.  Reboot .. and voila.

Hello. I  installed Spotify som weeks ago and  it was ok. Suddenly yesterday it stopped to work. I have reinstalled the App- program but it still does not work at all. The installation was ok. No errors. Can anyone help?

Same here - fine for 2 months solid on ICS now today suddenly totally borked - app won't stay up for 15 seconds and crashes to desktop - deleting all my cached files and hoping.

I also went to m.spotify.com and it said my phone was supported as it was 1.6+

Nexus S with latest ICS.

Dude, I was just about to take back my Galaxy Nexus when I realized that Spotify didn't work on it.  You're solution totally worked.  Thanks so much...you rock!

This has happened a couple times on my Galaxy Nexus as well. I uninstall and reinstall spotify and it works. The biggest downside is having to resync all the music.

This worked as a solution for me on a HTC Sensation XE. It seems to work fine now. Just hope it lasts as well!

On the other hand, I think Spotify should be clear, at least to premium subscribers, in advance of a high profile upgrade like the ICS, that it is not yet supportet by Spotify!
