We get no cell coverage at our house, or for the last hour of the drive home. I'd gotten used to starting Spotify, making sure it was playing, and i could head out the door to drive to town or go for a long walk, and I'd be fine. Now, it seems 10 minutes out the door, it shuts off, saying there's no Internet Connection.
Has Spotify turned up the frequency of authentication? If I need a full-time connection, the service I'm paying for is worthless to me.
Have you tried clean re-install of app?
I'm not sure what you mean by the 'frequency of authentication' as I have never had this issue before but a simple solution would be to download your music for offline use. Personally, when I know I will be away from service for a while, I will download 5-6 albums to my smartphone for listening when I am either conserving my battery or have no available connection. I know this wasn't exactly the response that you were looking for, but for the time being it will allow you to use your Spotify account while away from service.
They are downloaded. Even if you're downloaded, Spotify checks to see if your account is valid (you lose all those downloaded trackes if your account expires). It looks like it used to just check when you fired it up, but now it's checking more often, and stopping playing downloaded playlists if there's no internet connection
I would contact Spotify Support with this issue. Personally, I have gone days in offline mode, with my data/WiFi connections turned off and have never been kicked out of a song or have been unable to listen due to authentication issues. How long has this been an issue?
Thanks...maybe the problem is I've been forgetting to put it in Airplane mode? I'll try that on my next walk and check how it works.
I've never had to put my phone into Airplane Mode in order to listen to my downloaded tracks or playlists. I just turn off my connections and Spotify works without problem. There must be some issue with your location/account as making you constantly authenticate would pretty much defeat the purpose of Offline Mode to begin with. I would definitely get in touch with Spotify ASAP. Part of what makes Spotify so great is the ability to sync songs for use offline. I use Offline Mode for at least half of the time as it really helps to conserve battery and this would be a huge issue for me as well. I hope you figure this out!
