Automatically put into offline mode

My Question or Issue 

I keep getting put automatically into offline mode even though I am online. It says Playback (unavailable now) and the option to put myself into online mode is shaded out so I cannot change the setting. I cant search for artists or songs but, weirdly, music continues to play (even songs I have not downloaded).

I keep seeing recomendations to re-install the app. Well ok, I could do that but its not exactly a great long term fix and I shouldnt have to keep delting and reinstalling the app!
