Cannot remove song from queue anymore (since 2025)

Solved!

Cannot remove song from queue anymore (since 2025)

Plan

Premium

Operating System

Android 14

My Question or Issue

The “Remove track from queue” option was removed from the queue with the last app-update for Android devices in January 2025.

What to expect

I can remove a song listed in the queue. (This was achieved until December 2024 by checking a song and removing it via an option at the top.)

What actually happens

The option to remove a song from the queue was removed from the app with the latest update in which the queue was obviously comepletly redesigned.

It's nice that you're testing new features but have you done user testing before you released this 'feature'?

Like there was nothing wrong with the old queue system, I could delete, add multiple songs to the queue and now all of this is hidden behind 'swiping' which is not that intuitive and on top of that the option to select multiple songs is gone.

This is just straight bad UX. I don't understand why is Spotify always trying to break or remove things that were working before.

This is a terrible update. The "swipe left" suggested solution doesn't work for me at all. The comment that suggested holding anywhere to the left of the "hamburger" and waiting worked exactly once, then not again. I pay for a premium account but can't control my music queue?? What kind of ridiculousness is that?

Fix it, Spotify. There are other app options for music listening out there that I'm sure would love a big influx of disgruntled former Spotify users.

Unusable interface now for Web. I have never used queued tracks, mostly relying on Discover lists, which has been quite useful till now. Clicking "next" while in Discover list, plays the next track in your queue, not the Discover list. Often clicking the play button by the track in the Discover lists doesnt work and you need to use "next". Congrats on hosing up a working UX and making it unusable. Heard of testing? I off back to iTunes where at least the "next" button works.

Swiping won't work here. The song comes back in the queue withing a second

Hey folks,

Apologies for the radio silence here.

Here's a short video of how the queue should behave:

If it looks different on your end, please let us know how and if possible, send us a similar screen recording showing the issue along with your device model, OS version and exact Spotify version.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Hey Mihail,

Thanks for checking in. Songs in my queue never turn red and do not swipe left or right, they only move up or down no matter where on the song (title or 'hamburger') I touch and hold.

It's hard to show in a screen recording since you can't tell where I'm touching and holding, but here you go.

Hey there @Diva1974,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We really appreciate the time you took to send us the video. We couldn't replicate this behavior. Remember that holding the hamburger will let you move the song in the queue, but not remove it. For now, avoid holding the hamburger just to make sure.

Now, just to confirm, have you tried some troubleshooting to see if that fixes this behavior? If you haven't we'd suggest performing a clean reinstall of the app, so it can be up-to-date and you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to this issue.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • Does this happen if you open your account on a different device? You can ask for the mobile of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

Keep us in the loop!

I can see no way on the Android phone app now to clear the queue. How to I completely remove all things from the queue?

I've got four songs in my queue that I can't remove! I play them, they're still there. I remove them one by one, but after I delete the fourth one, all four of them reappear in the queue!

Yep, Spotify you have a queue problem for sure. The problem is not solved for me but all the suggestions are appreciated. All my playlist queues are loaded with songs I never added. I can clear the queue manually by swiping left on a track. Great! It's a pain to go one track at a time when it's loaded with tracks but it worked. BUT.... Once the queue was empty I started emtying another queue and came back to the original one and the queue was full again. This repeated on all the trakcks after multiple attempts. To be clear, I have tried all the list of tips offered on line and can't resolve this.  Spotify Version: 9.0.44.478 / Google Pixel 8 / Android Version 15. HELP!

Hey folks! Thanks for the reports.

Keep in mind that we need the information requested by @AlejaR combined with a video in order to take this backstage 🙂
We'll be on the lookout!

Tip: In order for us to see the screen gestures you can enable this setting:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap About phone.
  3. Tap Software information.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap the Build number ten times.
  5. Once this is on, return to the Settings menu.
  6. Tap Developer options.
  7. Under Input, turn on Show taps.

Much appreciated! @barubiito @KHA505
