My Question or Issue
I've been using spotify to stream to my NAD C338 via spotify connect for couple of years now.
Recently it stopped working - only google cast option is currently available on the newest spotify app.
As a part of troubleshooting I downloaded older spotify APKs and installed on my android phone to see if it helps - it did! The latest version of spotify app which shows spotify connect option to my NAD is 9.0.78.1116, starting from version 9.0.82.1008 the spotify connect is not available, just google cast.
Can the app be fixed so that I have spotify connect option back available on my NAD C338 please?
Can confirm spotify connect works perfectly fine with any apple devices and windows pc, only android app is here to blame.
Problem still here. I "upgraded" my app to 9.0.78.1116. Thanks misio1. Now I can select what i want to use. What is Spotify going to do about it? Anyone has an update about this?
Removed my good news as the issue is NOT fixed in latest version.
Immediately after upgrade, it worked but when I restarted the app it was broken again
Not fixed in latest version of 9.0.94.274 (just updated to that version on Play store).
@deekay76 - what is the version you are on now pls?
I moved back to 9.0.80.1320 version through apk install.
There google cast and spotify connect co-exist and lossless is already supported as well
Hi, I am using a JBL Authentics 200, and I am also experiencing this issue. It seems, though, that as soon as I connect the speaker to Google Home, it somehow overrides Spotify Connect to show Google Cast. Using Alexa to play music, however, plays via Spotify Connect and Lossless audio. This has only been an issue since I updated the Spotify app. Please fix!
Same problem streaming to my WiiM Ultra and WiiM Pro Plus from Galaxy S24 Ultra. Wouldn't be that big of a deal except Google Cast doesn't support lossless and Spotify Connect seems to just connect quicker and be more stable. Workaround for now is to disconnect from wifi on my phone. The WiiMs show up as Spotify Connect devices since Google Cast needs to be on the local network but Connect works from anywhere as long as the device is already registered on your account. But it's super annoying and clearly widespread. You just gave us lossless and then effectively took it away!
Turn off your chromecast on wiim ultra in settings and it should work. 😀 ✌️🤘

My Question or Issue
Ever since lossless audio was introduced, I am no longer able to switch between spotify connect and chromecast as my audio playback on my Samsung soundbar. As a result, lossless audio is not available and also volume controls work worse. It is still possible to use spotify connect when using an IOS tablet or iPhone in the same network, indicating an Android specific issue.
Strangely, when disconnecting from the wifi network and switching to 5G, I can use Spotify Connect and control from that moment on the Samsung phones. It was working in the past and of course all the troubleshooting and reinstalls of the app have been executed numerous times.
Do you have Google Home app installed on your iPhone or iPad? Because I can't even see the option for 'Spotify Connect' on ANY of my devices, Android Phone or Apple iPhone/iPad/MacBook. So far my reading here seems too point to Google Home and/or Speaker Groups set up in that app confusing Spotify. Some people are able to disconnect from WiFi to regain that option, but that hasn't been a viable workaround for me.
Thanks for pointing out that specific version, DeeKay! (9.0.80.1320) Indeed, in that we can choose between Spotify Connect and Google Cast with Spotify Connect being the default (which it should!), which also gives me back gapless play. Additionally, this annoying playlist filter bug https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Search-in-quot-Add-to-playlist-quot-menu-not-working... isn't in that version, too. --> I'll stick to that older, much better version 🙂
(Remember to disable auto updates in the Play Store for Spotify!)
Yep, this one is installed on the iPad. But the iPad app shows the option for spotify connect AND google cast just fine.
I have a similar issue with my Spotify android client (v9.9.94.274) and my KEF LSX II.
The Spotify android client do NOT let me choose to to use Spotify connect (to get lossless quality) with the latests versions.
It used to work well and i can confirm that my OSx Spotify client can use connect to stream lossless - So it's confirmed to be an Android client bug.
Can i get an update to understand if this issue is in investigation, please?
I cannot connect from Android to Spotify connect devices - there are 2 of them, different manufacturers: Cambridge audio and Audio Pro.
Every reasonable measure has been taken - reinstalling app, restarting router, restarting Android phone, etc. Same with my wife's Android phone.
Spotify Connect on my mac (connected to the same network) works without issues.
Google cast works - devices are available. Tidal connect works as well.
For a short moment after router was restarted, devices were available on Android, but then not again.

Issue
I have a an issue with my Spotify android client (v9.9.94.274) and Spotify connect regarding my KEF LSX II.
The Spotify android client do NOT let me choose to to use Spotify connect (to get lossless quality) - And providing only the Google cast option - This is a new issue, as It used to work well and i could select between Connect and cast.
I can confirm that on my macOS Spotify client (v1.2.75.510.g8f748905) I can connect via Spotify connect to stream lossless to the same speakers - So it's confirmed to be an Android client bug.
All of my devices are on the same network, there's no network issue in here.
I've reached to KEF (speakers manufacture) and they confirmed a Spotify issue.
I'm looking for an advise on it ASAP as it seems to be completely ignored by Spotify! Is this issue is under investigation?
Thank you
