Control from notification tray and lock screen

Please please please bring back that ability to control tracks from the lock screen and especially the notification tray. This made it so much easier to control my music, instead of having to go into the app.

Are you not seeing the spotify notification at all? What phone and android version?

I only see notifications of things like new albums or bands I'm following.  I used to be able to scroll down from the notification panel when spotify was loaded or cached and control the tracks.
