Download disappeared

I opened up my spotify app on my Samsung galaxy note3 on Thursday and for the first time in a year or more it asked me to log in...logged in and all my downloads for listening offline were gone. I am having to download them all again...why? Fortunately we have just managed to get NBN so I now have more than my usual 8G per month...which is why I subscribed to spotify in the first place. Is this likely to happen again?

You need to log in on a device every 30 days or your downloaded music will be removed.

I am continually logged in.  I listen to my device on a daily basis so don't think this was the reason.
