Earbuds crackle very loud before cutting out when app minimized in any way

My Question or Issue

I own a pair of Moondrop Kato IEMs with the FreeDSP cable to make usage with my phone better. With my old Samsung phone I had no issue with this setup but on this current setup with my Nothing phone, whenever I minimize the Spotify app or lock my phone when listening, I'll get insanely loud crackling noises for a couple seconds before the audio cuts out completely until I replug the earbuds. Only Spotify does this, playing audio from YouTube or my files and locking my phone or minimizing those apps generates no problems. I've tried every possible combination of in-app settings and Spotify specific settings. I've also looked through all of the USB related settings of the phone itself to no avail. Weirdly enough, plugging in another pair of headphones using an Apple dongle doesn't recreate the issue, so it only happens with this cable, specifically with the Spotify app.
