Editing playlist order on spotify mobile (Android)

Solved!

Editing playlist order on spotify mobile (Android)

Why doesn't spotify support manually changing the order of playlists on the mobile version?

Is there some kind of technical hurdle to work around or are Spotify just not listening to the people that are asking for it?

Yeah, Google Play is the way to go.

I wish this existed every time I use Spotify on my phone

Guys, 3 year waiting for a Feature that was always present in iOS. very nice the recent updates you did to the app. Now please, add this basic function.

Personally I didn't wait. They obviously do not care, so after a few months I simply canceled and used another Music streaming service.

It actually wasn't their fault. The solution was already on my phone. I found what I was looking for by dragging from the top of the app to reveal the edit options. Problem solved.

I found out you can edit your playlist order by dragging the playlist down from the top to reveal the edit options. Only thing, you can't manually arrange songs. There are only the default options to choose from.

Yes we are all aware of the "sort" feature but our concern is with custom playlist editing

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. It would be nice to be able to customize playlists like you can on an iPad.

People from Spotify aren't probably reading this. People are literally saying they're going with the competition and nothing has been done yet.

I know, it's just too frustrating. I've switched all my main listening to Google Play now, where you can actually do this without fuss on Android. It shouldn't be a big ask, I don't understand the silence on the issue. Spotify subscription cancelled and I won't be returning unless they someday fix this (which is looking unlikely).

This feature is essential for music lovers (and premium users ;)). Come on Spotify, stop letting us down!

It took me a while to find out this is real...
how am i supposed to use a playlist when the only thing i can do is skipping or playing it whole?
When my guests have an idea what to hear next i have to stop using the playlist? Why dont i just use youtube?

The spotify app for android is crippled. What were they thinking?

This issued is definitely NOT solved. Not on an Android phone at least. You cannot sort playlists or songs within playlists on Spotify's (1/15/2017) current Android phone interface. If you can, then PLEASE prove me wrong.

I CAN sort Playlist order on my Spotify Desktop version, and the playlist order changes made on the Spotify Desktop version will be reflected in the Android view. So far, I don't think you can do this on the Android version.

Why would you want to do this? Well, here's an example. Let's say I have a few main playlists. Like "FAVORITES", "BLUES", "GOSPEL", etc. Since I add most of random listening favorites to those playlists, I'd like them to be at the top so I don't have to scroll down my Playlists list to find the one I'm looking for EACH TIME I ADD A SONG TO THEM. But the Spotify interface, by default, seems to add each new Playlist to the top of the list. This pushes my most-used playlists down the list. And I have to constantly maintain the list on my Spotify Desktop version, which I basically NEVER use, other than for this task.

I can't figure out how to sort/rearrange TRACKS WITHIN A PLAYLIST using the Android Spotify interface either.

For both of these examples that I can't do or at least can't figure out HOW to do, it isn't only an alphabetical type of sort I'm looking for... I want to be able to actually arrange/sort the tracks individually if that's what I'm trying to do.

If there is a way to do any of these via Spotify's Android interface, please let me know! Thanks!

Ok then, great, how do you do this?

Thanks!

Hi sorry, but you have officially joined the don't hold your breath club. What you are asking for is not available or possible on SPOTIFY for android. Apparently SPOTIFY doesnt have the personel with the ability or experience to write the script necessary for this to happen. This has been going on for a long time. Personally, I think SPOTIFY is owned inpart by Apple that's why they don't care about the android users. You will have to keep using your desktop until they (your desktop) no longer exist. Hope I don't sound to bitter, it's just ridiculous.
Good luck...

If anyone has found out how to solve this problem, please let us know in this community post. Thanks.

That is the 'Up Next' functionality. That does not change the actual order of the playlist.

So we're back to square 1 with no solution?
Thanks for letting me know. I will erase my suggestion to save people some time, contact Spotify, and if they don't provide a solution for their Premium subscribers withina month, switch to Google Play or another service.

Seriously, the lack of this functionality in the Android app is really annoying.
I have to start the Windows client just to be able to move a playlist to a folder...

And why is this thread marked as solved?

What an absolute pain in the rear surely the most basic function.
