My Question or Issue

I cannot get my watch to control my Spotify streaming through my phone since the latest Spotify update on 11/25. Spotify says "updated 4 days ago" on the play store and is up to date along with my phone and watch. I reached out to Samsung and went through all of their steps of resetting my watch and re-pairing my watch and phone and also re-pairing Spotify to my devices. Nothing is working. My watch will register that media is playing by displaying the blue music note at the bottom of the watch screen, but when it directs me to Spotify it says "Select something to play" and all of my control options are grey and do not allow me to skip, play, pause or control volume. I have attached a picture of my watch face while Spotify is active and connected on my phone and watch.

How many share your Spotify account? If it's a family account with 4 or more signed in, it won't work offline. Reduce the number or create a second account for yourself. It'll work straight away.

Same problem for months .

every time the watch goes offline I can no longer listen to downloaded music/podcasts  because it becomes irresponsible and laggy . Takes minutes to start playing and only stops by force .

The second I'm back home it connects to WiFi and immediately starts working again

Galaxy Watch 4 LTE- Spotify 8.9.40.509 and any previous version

Open a new account or if your on a family account/shared reduce the numbers
to 4 or less then try

Problem continues . The moment the watch goes offline I can no longer control Spotify either through the watch or through the headphones. It works again immediately after coming online. No one can do this simple test and they need to keep asking for details?

Hey @z3karlos,

Thanks for your reply.

We've tested this on our end, however, we couldn't reproduce the issue. Can you please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Reinstall the Spotify app on your phone
  • Reinstall the Spotify app on your watch
  • Re-pair the watch

Let us know if any of these help.

I've uninstalled the apps dozens of times on my watch and smartphone (despite the problem being on the smartwatch app not on smartphone app)

App working normally on the smartwatch when I'm at home on WI Fi. I leave the house with just the watch without a smartphone ->  I am completely offline without WI Fi and 4g-> 10 minutes later  I can no longer control the watch app. It doesn't play any of the content I downloaded from Spotify. If pause can't play again. -> Works normally again if connect on WI Fi again or connect with smartphone via bluetooth.

Other apps work normally off line

Hey @z3karlos,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Just to confirm, does the content still appear as downloaded on your watch, and it is just not playable?

Do you notice any difference if you un-download the content and then download it on the watch again? Also, does this happen when playing directly through the watch or only when connected to Bluetooth headphones?

Let us know how you get on.

most of the time yes, still appear as download on watch, but the app become
completely out of control the moment it goes offline .

sometimes it doesn't even load the downloaded episode.

>>>>Do you notice any difference if you un-download the content and then

no difference

>>>Also, does this happen when playing directly through the watch or only
when connected to Bluetooth headphones?

both ways

Hey @z3karlos,

Thanks for the additional info!

Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you check for updates for your watch's OS? Also, are you able to put the watch in offline mode to see if you notice any difference? For example, you can temporarily switch on Airplane mode.

There's also currently an issue with offline playlists, which is being looked into by our tech folks as we speak. It's possible that it's related to what you're experiencing, so we recommend having a look at this thread as well. In this case, it might be worth waiting to see if things work as expected again after this is back on track.

Cheers!

My Question or Issue

I always listen to music via Spotify premium. Most of the time, I use my Galaxy Watch to toggle the volume and to select/skip/pause songs. But recently my 'main screen' of the spotify app on the watch froze. 'Froze' is actually not the right word for it. I can hit the pause/play button and it switches the symbols but thats it. It doesn't respond to my actions and doesn't switch the name of the song.

Situation: The watch is connected to my smartphone. I am starting music via my phone. A different song is playing but my watch is always showing me the same song and simply doesn't react to pausing/playing/skipping. Like shown in the picture attached.

I can swipe right and use the screens for my playlist and library but not the main screen.

I don't know why. I have already tried everything. Uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify, resetting the watch and restarting the watch. Everything I could think of.

Can you help me?

I think, it is a software problem but I could be wrong.

And I also have prepared a viedeo but it is too big to attach it to this post.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings from Austria, Europe

Simon
