My Question or Issue
When I listen to Spotify on my Google Home Speaker, the music stops after every third song. Normally an ad should play at this point, but the stream just stops.
To continue listening, I have to disconnect Spotify from the speaker and reconnect it.
When I'm listening with my phone, everything is normal. As if the Google Speakers won't play the ads...
What I done so far:
-Clear cache of Spotify app
-Reinstall Spotify app
- Relink Spotify to Google home app
-Delete every Speaker and entire Google Home setup, and reinstall just one Nest mini speaker
- Reinstall Google home app
- Log out every other device
- Restart Network / Wifi (Fritzbox 7590 OS 07.27)
- Change DNS to 8.8.8.8
Any suggestions what to do?
Hi there @Milka78,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and for the troubleshooting you've done so far. Really good job!
Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your phone so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it.
Also, does this happen with one specific device or multiple devices?
It would be great if you can have a family member or a friend log in on your device to see if the issue persist. This will help us understand if it's account related or not.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Take care!
Hey Jeremy,
yes, I've done these steps from this article.
Deinstalled Spotify on my mobile and installed it on my Lenovo Tablet. Same behaviour.
Even if no Spotify app is installed, the smart speaker always stops before an advertisement.
So now I've created a new Spotify-Account (free).
Since no advertising is played for new accounts in the first few days, I now have to wait to see whether the error occurs again.
Hi again @Milka78,
Thank you for your reply and confirmation and for creating a new account.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂
Cheers!
Update:
The new account is playing without problems. Advertisement is playing as it should...
Seems to be my old account was somehow broken.
Hi there @Milka78,
Thanks for the reply.
In this case you might consider transferring your music collection over to the new account, by following this Guide.
We'd recommend using the new account for a few days beforehand just to make sure everything works fine there.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
