Hey,
I'm using a Spotify Premium account on my android device.
Every time I try to play an album on the app it automatically chooses to use shuffle.
I know that I need to avoid clicking the big 'Shuffle Play' button and press on a specific song on the album instead, but it still automatically shuffles the album.
Then I need to press on the green arrows things on the buttom so it can be played by order.
And I need to do that every time I want to listen to an album. Imagine how annoying it is.
How do I circumvent this?
Thanks,
Fae.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your posts in the Community.
Currently, if the Shuffle option is enabled by you or any other party, like the Google Clock app or any external device, it'll stay on for the rest of your playback until you manually turn it off.
We understand where you're coming from and we'll make sure to pass your feedback on to the teams in charge.
You can also ad your +Vote to this idea if you find it useful. Even though the status is Closed, it's still open for voting.
Cheers!
I've been a user for 9 years but I feel like the platform is stagnating. Organizing music is so hard. And I see so little innovation. And your app is just not user friendly. Why pay for an outdated experience?
I'm jumping to another platform because of this function
Chiming in here since this issue of shuffling turning ON and repeat turning OFF for random playlist playbacks is plaguing my experience on Spotify mobile. TO BE CLEAR, I am not pressing or have ever pressed the "play" button as inherently turns on Shuffle now.
I suggest putting a button in the app where people can choose whether they want to listen in order or shuffle
I have a premium account with this issue too and it is extremely annoying and frustrating... I think what would help us all is to have ONLY a manual shuffle toggle button and disable the auto shuffle function. That way we have 1 extra button press to turn shuffle on when someone wants to use it instead of having so much back and forth to turn if off when we did not want it in the first place.
PLEASE FIX IT SPOTIFY! YOU ARE ABOUT TO LOSE CUSTOMERS
I understand, why the behaviour is like it is and how it sets it back to shuffle every time. I however doubt that anyone will agree that this is the "correct" behaviour a novice user would expect from Spotify. Clearly, using Spotify as alarm ringtone and other 3rd party integrations for that matter, the user uses the functionality to improve the alarm clock/other app, not wanting to change their settings in the Spotify app itself. I'm not saying anything is objectively right or wrong in this scenario, I'm saying there is a way of things listeners to music have gotten used to. When my alarm has woken me up, I turn it off. I won't ever leave it on to listen to music in that very moment. And even if I technically would, I still prefer to hear the natural order of the playlist or album. Same goes for all the other apps. These are additional integrations, not part of my natural Spotify hearing habbits. There is no way I ever would've thought that those integrations and other devices share the status of the shuffle functionality. Why? The answer is simple. I never had any music/record playing device, that did. And having the experience of turning off shuffle again and again, after subconsciously realizing something's wrong has been really grinding my gears so much. So much in fact, I googled the topic and found this article. Please dear project managers, get this stuff in order. You don't need to reinvent the wheel here, because all other devices and services I know handle it the right way already, with shuffle being an additional, but not automatically set, way of scrambling playlists. I hope this explains the fury I apparently share with other users over this topic. Please let me know what you think.
Hi.. i also recently had the same problem. Whenever I played my playlist, the shuffle was always on. I played on another device but the shuffle didn't turn on. But when I played it on my main phone, the shuffle always on. I already re-install the apps, but the problem still happen. But it occurs to me that the album playlist that I tried to play has "shuffle button on". So I tried to turn off the shuffle from the playlist (not when the music is on, but from the front page of the playlist that I tried to play), and it works. Don't know whether the problem that you have is same as me, but I hope it works.

Hi @P1X1E,
Thanks for posting on the Community and welcome.
Keep in mind that if you’re using the free service, you can only shuffle music except on certain Spotify playlists such as those made for you. You can find more info about this feature here.

I think the only way to really bypass this is to add something to your que. So if you want to listen to ab album in it's original order then you need to be listening to a song prior and hit the 3 dots on top of each other in the album and hit "Add to Que" that's the only way I can listen to playlists that I've edited to custom orders and be able to keep that order.
Hope that helps more than the "clean reinstall"!
That is my exact problem. No solution yet.
Hi Peter.
I'm having the same problem.
I don't see an option for clean reinstall for iOS in the support article. I deleted and reinstalled the app but it doesn't seem data was deleted.
I have a premium account, desktop app is working fine but in the iPhone app everything automatically sets to shuffle.
Thanks
Hey @adm62,
Thanks for your reply in this thread and welcome 🙂
You can perform a clean reinstall on your iPhone by following these steps:
On another note, we'd like to gather as much information as possible. Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, keep in mind recently Spotify launched a new shuffle experience.
Lastly, could you send us a screenshot of what you're mentioning on your iPhone?
We'll be on the lookout.
Cheers!
Echoing other folks. I noticed this incredibly frustrating behavior of default shuffle over the last few days, bringing me to this thread.
At least on my end - timing seems to align with the new shuffle button feature from the link in the previous reply (w/ rollout this month). I didn’t have this issue previously.
Other notes
I think your product team should:
How to disable this horrible feature, every once in a while Spotify just forces users into something they don’t need. l listen to new albums & playlists & artists every day and l don’t want to click these arrows ALL THE TIME. l want to enjoy music as l always did lN ORDER. l know nobody cares but if this just stays, i’ll just switch to apple music;)
Hey there!
I've experienced this problem too, I think I have a solution
Try double tapping the first song in whatever album/Playlist you're wanting to jam to, that should make the queue fill with the album you desire
Hope this helps!
thnx this worked for me
