How do I stop Spotify changing my phone lockscreen?

My Question or Issue

Whenever Spotify is playing, it automatically changes my phone lockscreen to a zoomed in version of the cover image for the song that is playing. How do I change it so it only has a pause and skip button rather than changing the entire lockscreen?

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd like to add some insights. The reason full screen cover art is shown on the lockscreen has always been dependent on how the Android rom on the particular phone was configured to interact with media playback. This can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, from one android version to another and from one phone model to the other.

That being said, some Android models have the possibility to disable some widgets for the lock screen. You can check if perhaps this is your case. To do it, you can go to your mobile device settings > Lock Screen > Widgets. You should be able to manage which apps have active widgets or not. Take into account that if you use a custom Launcher on your phone, those settings may change.

Another way to check this is by going to android settings > Lock screen and security > Notifications on lock screen. By scrolling down and locating Spotify, you should be able to toggle the widget off. Bear in mind this varies from model to model.
