How to deactivate autoplay at the new home screen

I got the new design of the spotify Android App and overall its okay, but it's annoying that the music or similar starts playing automatically on the home screen if you swipe through it. Is it possible to deactivate that?

Agreed. Its extremely annoying to have garbage music i didnt ask for blaring everytime i open the spotify app.

I can't believe there are this many disgruntled user's without so much as a reply from the Devs. It's a borderline useless feature to begin with, but at least give us the option to opt out. Or better yet remove it entirely.

Oh no, I just got the update and was confused about the music playing. This is totally an antipattern! For me, this deletes the home-view from the app as something useful.

AWFUL update. Infuriating. I HATE the autoplay on the home screen. Why on earth someone would think it's a good idea to instantly start blasting some god-awful **bleep** I would never listen to at top volume the second I open the app? You couldn't come up with a more effective operant conditioning to make me *avoid* using Spotify. I've had a premium family subscription for years and I -will not- use this app until this is removed.  You get one month and then the subscription is cancelled. I hate this update.

I don't want to hear music as soon as i open the app. This is ridiculous. I wasn't even connected to my speaker yet and it started playing loudly at work. I can't stand music through phoene speakers. Might be canceling if i can't change this.

Just adding one more voice here: this update is the worst. Of all the apps I can think of that need a feed, Spotify isn't even on the list. Please give us a way to disable it, at the very least.

I've been on the fence about Spotify for ages but the new UI is so bad that I'm cancelling finally. It's slow to find anything you want to listen to. It's unnecessary to have to mute the home page each time you login.

I was one of the unlucky ones getting this "update" a few days back when Spotify embarassed me in front of my co-workers in a quiet, shared office space! I was only trying to make some additions to my playlist, opened the Spotify client and it blared some pseudo gangsta rap from the charts at me in full volume. When trying to stop (UI convention for pausing/stopping is tapping on the video), it started the next one - some random electronic music.  I eventually found the mute button but it was already too late - my co-workers all looked at me and I wanted to die in shame - especially since everyone knows I do NOT like that kind of music (so does Spotify by the way - I'm a premium customer!).
I eventually found the mute button hidden in a corner - but on next start the client unmutes itself and starts screaming at the world again. Pleeease help me find a setting to disable this! I if want Tiktok, I will install Tiktok. I just want to manage my playlists and listen to music with Spotify.

Absolute trash. I have been using Spotify for over a decade and have sung its praises to everyone I know during that time. This update makes me want to switch to Apple Music (assuming they don’t have this same god awful interface). What a horrible idea. The product owner responsible for this should be fired. Clearly did not consult a single actual user before this massive downgrade was approved for development.

It's jarring and unpleasant to have random music start every time I open the app. Please give us an option to stop it!

No such luck. It unmutes after an app restart. Bummer. The fact that we all find it a pointless annoyance is one thing… But not allowing users to turn it off globally (and permanently) is just absurd. Apparently whatever motivated this change is more important than giving users this basic control over their experience. I’d bet all of my money that even those users who aren’t specifically irked by it would still be hard pressed to say that it’s a welcome improvement.

Auto playing sounds in any app are intrusive and suitable only for people who live alone or enjoy annoying others. Seriously, what were they thinking at Spotify?

Been a subscriber for around 9 years and this is the worst update put out over that time. At least give us the option to always have the audio muted on the home page instead of having to manually mute it every time you open the app. Seriously considering moving to prime music instead. Would much prefer the old system with recommendations for playlists on the home screen.

I thought we learned in the 90s webdesign that autoplaying ANYTHING is frustrating and a terrible idea, please just get rid of these cards.

Why does Spotify keep adding useless updates?

How about fixing the Made For You section which plays me nothing but Indian music now for some weird reason?

How about a decent equaliser and audio settings feature?

Canvas was bad and you got so many complaints for it, I don’t understand why you’d add this?

Everytime I log into Spotify now my ears bleed due to how loud and obnoxious the ‘feed’ is.  Stop fixing things that aren’t broken and allow the user to choose our own app experience.  You keep adding more rubbish into the app which is offering loyal customers nothing.
