Let me permanently disable Smart Shuffle

I do not want to use Smart Shuffle, at all, ever. For the past few months it has been screwing up my Liked Songs and it is extremely annoying. When I turn off shuffle because I am in a block of songs I want to listen to, the next song it plays will ALWAYS be a specific song instead of the next song in the list. This specific song changes whenever I add more songs to my liked songs.

 Please for the love of god make the "include smart shuffle" button be accessable to free Listener's. I'm getting tired of my song just changing even though i wanted it loop, even after i pressed the "loop" it still just goes to a song that i don't even like. So please Spotify just disable it or just make it disabled in default and make the Listener choose if he/she wants it included

The solution here ONLY applies to mobile, we need to be able to disable smart shuffle on the desktop app as well. Smart Shuffle is a terrible excuse to force AI into another app that doesn't need it. Give the user control of their music, let us turn off any and all AI features.

Thanks, this was a necessary fix as smart shuffle is an awful idea and it detracted from the spotify experience for over 2 years. 

Now please implement the ability to disable it on windows desktop.

Smart shuffle is truly annoying. Smart shuffle will play instead of the songs in my playlist. I'm confused though if smart shuffle is an option on my version of Spotify how come if I go to settings and I click on playback there is no option for smart shuffle or toggle whatever that is. So there is no way for me to get rid of smart shuffle. Their has been problems recently within my Spotify and it has never done this done these things before. I cannot enjoy Spotify how I did literally a week ago.

I get you guys want your money and you only want premium to be able to turn off smart Shuffle but a lot of people can't afford that myself included I just want to listen to My Music Man and smart Shuffle keeps adding in songs I don't want to listen to it's extremely annoying and to be honest I hate it I wish Spotify went back to the way it was where I could just listen to my liked playlist and not be forced to listen to songs I don't want to please make it so that everyone and anyone can turn off Smart Shuffle please

This "solution" still isn't available as of oct 19/2025 on mobile or desktop. It is irritating and irresponsible to have mods putting out advice when they obviously don't see that same app or desktop version consumers do. I don't see why it is so hard to program and OFF switch with 'amazing' new features so people who pay for the service can just get the reliability they want. I don't need new features, what I need is for the search bar to be in the same place and shuffle to be a regular actual shuffle guys. Yt music is looking better everyday

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the thread.

Even if the option is not yet available on the desktop version of the app, it's currently available on the mobile version of the app. To find it, you just need to open the Spotify mobile app, tap your profile picture > Settings and privacy > Playback, under the section Listening controls look for the option Include Smart Shuffle in play modes and turn it off as seen below:

If you cannot see this option, make sure your app is updated to its latest version by following the steps mentioned in this article. 

Lastly, if you want to show your support for this feature to be added to the desktop app as well, we'd recommend adding your vote to this idea so it can eventually reach a high number of votes to be taken into account by internal departments.

That's a weird behavior since we've tested this on different mobile devices using the version downloaded from the Google play version and the option is displayed properly. So in this case, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This step is frequently ignored, yet it can assist in eliminating any cache that may be causing issues.

If the option is still not available after the process, would you mind checking on a different mobile device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out. This will help us understand if the issue could be device-related.

Lastly, if persistent, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

Why does it take hundreds of users publically stating for almost three years that they did not ask for or want this feature for spotify to respond with "We've added the ability to turn it off on mobile, but the desktop program still forces it, go to our forums and maybe we'll think about adding it to that version." ?

While you're at it, let your bosses know that your clanker DJ needs an off button.
