Login suddenly fails on Android smartphone - the report "Unfortunately, Spotify has stopped” appears

Login suddenly fails on Android smartphone - the report "Unfortunately, Spotify has stopped” appears

Description

Spotify suddenly stopped working on my Android smartphone. It has worked fine before, but suddenly one morning Spotify did not open and the message “Unfortunately, Spotify has stopped” appears on the screen. This has continued ever since (for a couple of weeks now). I have rebooted my phone, un- and reinstalled Spotify several times, cleared the memory on my phone to ensure there is enough space, cleared the data and the cache, and troubleshooted Spotify according to the guide B on http://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Android-Troubleshooting-Spotify/td-p/113082. Nothing helped.

I have a premium account. Spotify on my computer and on my Samsung galaxy tablet keep working just fine.

What are the steps you took to get to the error/issue?

1)      I click on the Spotify logo on my Android.

2)      The program tries to open, but closes automatically after 1 second and I am bounced back to the main phone screen.

3)      I try to open Soptify again by cklicking on the logo.

4)      The message “Unfortunately, Soptify has stopped” appears.

5)      I can choose to click on OK (then the message disappears and I am returned to the main phone screen) or on Report, which I have done, describing the problem and sent a report as feed to Spotify (most recently on May 3 at 12.24pm CET).

What I expected to happen

When I press the Spotify logo, I expect the program to open.

Does removing the SD card, then re-installing Spotify make any difference?

Unfortunately it did not help. The same thing happens even after the SD card is removed, Spotify is re-installed and the phone is rebooted.
