My Question or Issue
Occasionally (once or twice a day at most), the currently playing music will slowly fade out to silence over a couple seconds and then pause. This has happened while the screen is locked or while I'm using a different app. This fade-and-pause behavior is similar to what happens when you receive a phone call on Android while listening to music, but in this issue there is no incoming phone call or new notification of any kind when the music pauses.
Additional details:
- The Battery Saver system setting is turned off
- After the music fades out, if I switch back to the Spotify app, the app is still running (i.e., it opens immediately to the player interface, rather than showing the splash screen) and shows the current song as being paused; hitting play resumes playback where it was. In other words, the app appears to believe it has been told to pause the music (as opposed to, say, having crashed).
- Audio output device: this behavior has happened while paired to Bluetooth headphones and while using the "Screen Cast" feature of Android to mirror the phone's screen and audio to a Chromecast
- First noticed this issue a couple weeks ago
- I haven't had any *other* media apps pause automatically since noticing this issue
