Music wont play automatically when connected to Android Auto

Unlike Apple CarPlay whenever I connect my S8 to my car's Android Auto Spotify wont continue playing the current song.  When I start my car Spotify starts playing through bluetooth automatically, but when I connect through Android Auto the music pauses and I have to press play on my headset. Is there a work-around to get spotify to continue playing?  I've tried using a trigger with Tasker, but havent gotten that to work.  This should be something built into the app, as it works with Apple CarPlay.
