My own music greyed out?

My own music greyed out?

So, I created a private playlist with music that I own (ripped CDs onto my computer) and when I listen to the music on my computer, it plays and works fine but when I do it on my phone, it reminds grey. This wasn't an issue a year or two ago but it's begun to happen. I know that sometimes they don't sync so I tried that already and still nothing. Is there a way for me to go around it?

Hey @ChaoticBanana,

Sorry to hear you’re having issues playing music, but no worries - I’ll be happy to help.

Could you try following these steps: https://support.spotify.com/using_spotify/troubleshooting/playback-issues/?

If that doesn’t help, could you ty restarting your device?

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest next 🙂

Thank you for replying. I tried everything mentioned and sadly nothing has fixed it. My Spotify version is 8.4.64.55 armv7 and my Android OS is 8.0.0.

@ChaoticBanana -

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry if that didn’t do the trick. Have you tried these steps:

Note: Files or downloads from illegal sources are not permitted.

Spotify supports the following file types:

  • .mp3
  • .m4p (unless it contains video)
  • .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)

The iTunes lossless format (M4A) is not supported.

We’ll do our best to match any unsupported local files with songs from the Spotify catalog.

Some of your tracks may be protected in restricted formats. You can install QuickTime on your desktop to allow most of these tracks to be played on Spotify.

You can learn more about this here.

Let me know if this helps!
