Newest update *completely* broke spotify

My Question or Issue

Since the new update was (automatically) installed, spotify can no longer start on my phone! I just get a black screen, with absolutely no indication of any progress, options, or activity of any kind. It's a completely dead black full-screen square.

I have tried the following troubleshooting options, none of which helped:

 - Restart spotify

 - Reboot phone

 - Clearing the app data

Any ideas?

That used to happen to me. The problem was on my end with the internet connection. So I would try that. (even though that shouldn't be a problem l would still try)
