No Spotify Messages Notifications on Android

My Question or Issue

According to Spotify's official support article, users should be able to manage Spotify Message notifications by going to:

Profile picture → Settings and privacy → Notifications → Social features → Messages

However, this option does not appear on Android.

I've tested this on multiple Android devices running Android 16 and the Messages notification setting is missing on all of them. The same setting is available on both iOS and the Spotify Web app, which suggests the issue is not related to my account.

As a result, I do not receive notifications when someone sends me a message through Spotify. The only way to see new messages is to manually open the app and check the Messages section.

Could you please confirm whether Message notifications are currently supported on Android, or if the Messages notification setting is missing due to a bug or an unimplemented feature?

Checking here, the option to enable the Messages feature is in Settings and privacy -> Privacy and social networks -> Social features. After that, you can enable push notifications in Settings and privacy -> Notifications.

Also, I advise you to check if the Spotify app has granted all the necessary permissions in your device settings and if it has been excluded from any battery or device optimization apps.

Thank you for the reply. I have the messages option turned on and I use it to chat with my friends and share music, but I don't get notifications and the toggle under the notification settings and social features is not there on Android. If I try on my iPhone, it works fine. It’s just a missing feature in the Android app development.

I have tried that, I even installed the alpha version of that app and nothing helped. Yesterday I was chatting with a live agent and we tried everything and nothing worked.

In this case, for investigation purposes, I suggest you log in to your device again to check if the option appears or if it still doesn't.

If it still doesn't appear, I believe the issue is related to what you mentioned about the "alpha version." If you participate in any beta testing within the Play Store, that might be the problem. In that case, I would recommend these steps to exit the program and try again.

Thank you for the reply. I have logged in again and still this option isn't there. I also removed myself from the Alpha and Beta programs and installed the stable version, and yet again it's not there.

Hey @kustom_ai ! Could you just confirm if Spotify notifications are enabled on your phone's system? Android Settings > Apps > Spotify > Notifications

Hey, Yes notifications are turned on on device level as well as in the app.

 Upload a recording.

I think this is a region issue, asked a friend in the UK and he has this toggle. same app version.

on Android no one, on iOS even I can access it
