My issue

For the past 2 days the green checkmarks, that are supposed to indicate that tracks are already saved in playlists of my own, have stopped appearing in all user generated playlists.

They do however show up in playlists, that are "made for me" by spotify.

See screenshot below: Each of the 4 visible tracks is in one of my playlists and should have a green checkmark.

Attempts already made:

- Reboot phone - No changes

- Clear cache and data - No changes

- Clean reinstall like described in the guide - No changes

Let me know if I can provide further informations.

Hey @Aldobar, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

Spotify is always testing new features and changes. You might see some things in the app different from others which could be the reason why you are seeing this change.

While there is no option in the app to revert any changes, I'd suggest keeping the Spotify app always updated to make sure you get the latest changes and bug fixes on time.

If you think the behaviour you want is a good feature to have, feel free to share it in the ideas board where other users can upvote and interact as well.

Let me know if you need anything else. 🙂

Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the reply, too. Even though I really wasn't expecting that.

I’m not trying to be sarcastic. I just want to make sure I’m not “Lost in Translation,” since English isn’t my native language. What you’re telling me is:

The sudden disappearance of the green checkmarks in my account — a feature that’s always been there since I started using Spotify — isn’t a bug, but rather a feature that I’m seeing as part of some kind of A/B test?

Hey @Aldobar,

Thanks for the reply.

We understand the situation and what @Amay told you is correct. Features can come and go or be subject to change over time as new updates come out. When it comes to the indicator, here are two specifics of its behaviour you should be aware of:

  • The checkmark only appears if the song is present in your Liked Songs or one of the playlists you created. If they're on someone else's playlist that you saved to your library, it won't appear.
  • If all songs from a playlist/album are on one of your playlists, then the check mark won't appear as it would need to be on every one.

If you're still experiencing anything that doesn't fit this and you believe is out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to let us know. We'll be happy to assist you.

Hope this clears things up.

Hello, please don't remove this feature, I discover music mainly from user created playlists, and removing the green checkmark from appearing on these user made playlists makes it more difficult for me to track which songs are saved in my liked songs playlist.

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification @Joan.

I realize that changes can always happen. However, this is a very strange one, at least from my perspective.

For me, this was a basic feature that - as phrogz describes it - made it easy to discover new tracks in user playlists. I’m not sure if they’re all that useful without this option.

But anyway, you’re not going to bring it back just because one guy misses the feature. So I’ll look for another way—or another service.

Thanks again for the explanation.

What a depressing way to cap off this already crappy day I've had. I also used this to find songs in other user playlists that I didn't already have in my liked playlist. Hope it comes back.
