So this started a while ago but I noticed after playing music in my truck that the songs that were playing weren't matching the display. Same on the phone. It gets stuck on one song but continues playing they playlist but not displaying the current song, only the one it was stuck on.
If I force close the app and restart it seems to work fine for a bit displaying the current songs and such but after a while it will get stuck and repeat the same cycle described above.
The other issue is if I turn of my truck, Bluetooth speaker or unplug headphones it continues to play Spotify when it used to stop the music but keep the app open.
When it gets stuck on a song it also gets rid of the notification bar and lockscreen display bar.
I have tried clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, installing multiple apk older versions.
It doesn't seem repeatable it just seems to happen at random when I'm listening
Hey @Billzbub,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
First off, we believe that there is a newer version of the mobile app (8.6.70), so before anything else, we'd suggest you to update your app to it, and see if the issue will appear again.
Also you've mentioned synching the app with your Samsung Gear smart watch to use it as a remote. Could we ask you to also do a reinstall of the app on the watch as well, and then when both apps on both devices are up to date, you can try re-pair them via the Bluetooth.
If this doesn't solve the issue for you, could you send us a short screen recording of the situation so we can advise you better. You can send a link to it or attach it using the Insert Video option in the post editor.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.
I've been experiencing this issue now for about a month and it's the same issues as mentioned in the prior yr+ on this board.
I've preformed:
Closing and reopening
Hard stop
Reset
Hard Reset
Uninstall/reinstall
Uninstall #2 w/ restart of phone
Install #2
The same issue is currently going on with no fix. It's annoying and reading all these comments with a lack of a suitable fix is both concerning and frustrating.
I'm running S21+ Ultra.
Had this issue with my Note 9. I ignored it since it was an old phone. Got my S22 Ultra, and the same issue occurs. It is not just a fresh install, but a fresh phone. I play a podcasts and the Spotify player shows up in the notification panel, on the widget, and within the app at the bottom of the screen. Sometime during listening the player disappears from the app, the notification panel stops updating, and widget goes blank. I cannot stop the audio at all. I can stop it by force quitting, but if I hit play again, the player is still missing, the widget is still blank, and notification bar is not updated and again, I can't stop it.
Hey @HateMakingUpNames,
Thank you for reaching the Community and welcome.
As this is happening with the same account in different devices, it would be great if you can have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member to see if it makes the difference. This will help us understand if it's account related or not.
If the issue persists, would you mind attaching a screenshot where we can see the blank widget and the missing buttons you've mentioned to have a better view?
As for @TJDub, let us know if you still have the issue.
We’ll be on the lookout.
Hi there, I have a Note 20 Ultra and I am having the same issue as everyone else and have attempted all the previously mentioned potential fixes. I am sick to death that Spotify has the audacity to charge people for a broken app that is so glitchy and buggy. It's a disgrace. Not only do I have this issue but even volume control for my Denon A/V Receiver doesn't work through my phone either for Spotify Connect.
The fact that this issue is over 2 years old only highlights the laziness, incompetence and worst of all, the lack of care for their customers. Either you fix it or you'll continue to lose ground to you competitors.
I have the same issue as in this long thread, using latest version on iPhone 14.
Hi there @osirisshak,
Thanks for reaching out about this.
Can you let us know if your songs get stuck only when connected to a Bluetooth device? It would also be useful if you share a screenshot of how things look on your end and the current version of the Spotify app on your phone.
You can also try logging in with a different Spotify account on your phone to see if you experience the same behavior.
Let us know how it goes.
Hi,
I'm facing the same issues since 4 months or so.
Music info get stuck on my cars entertainment system and on my phone's media control panel.
Force close and reopen the app fix it till the next connection.
Same problem occurs when connecting to my bikes hand free system.
I'm on Pixel 6 with Android 14.
Hi there @iwanttolistentomusic,
Thank you for your reply in this thread.
We understand forcing stop and restarting the app fixes the situation temporarily, but have you tried any other troubleshooting steps? If not, we'd recommend starting with a clean reinstall of the Spotify app with these steps. Check if that makes a difference.
If that doesn't help, could you send over a photo or recording of the behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
