Notification controls disappear occasionally

The notification controls that pop up when you play music on the app occasionally disappear when I pause a song. This doesn't happen every time but every 2 or 3. When it does it's annoying because I have to stop whatever I'm doing and go back into the app to unpause the song. Any reason why this happens, and how can I fix it?

I have the same problem, but the only way I can get it back is to force close Spotify. I am on a Galaxy S7 Edge.
