Offline music disappears / cache repeatedly orphaned.

Offline music disappears / cache repeatedly orphaned.

There's an issue (bug) with offline sync in the current public build of  Spotify on Google Play. I've seen several users on r/Spotify are having the same symptoms; • Offline cache disappears • '0% / waiting for WiFi' appears on all previously downloaded items • The cache is still present and consuming space under storage /  android / com.spotify.android • The issue typically occurs following a restart. • The issue happens on either internal storage or an external SD card but  in the case of the latter; the settings switch defaults to internal storage. • Only way to resolve is to redownload all music. • Under most conditions the offline sync feature appears to work normally  for a while. The bug is random; it has happened three times to me thus far - and always following a restart. • There is no error message or diagnostic information to suggest what  causes the issue. There is no need to suggest troubleshooting tips; the issue is with Spotify  Android app. In my case, my storage is in good health and has shown no  issues with offline sync on competitors Tidal and Deezer. There could well be a variable causing the issue to occur in certain environments but to reiterate - there is nothing wrong with my device nor microSD card. The issue is with Spotify. Here are public posts relating to the issue; https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/btz2bs https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/bng9ue https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/bin21s https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/8ztolc https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/bc0kl1 https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/93z6xa https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/8s0y5k https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/8zon6g https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/8vzvj4 https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/b75tgp https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/8vqk4n https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/a5045j This issue has been occurring for at least a year. Some users are incredibly frustrated with the state of the android app - it should be investigated by development. It's important they figure out how to replicate it and fix it - this is a paid service and ideally shouldn't be happening, let alone for a year 😐

Hey @moistbuns.

Thanks for getting in touch!

We recommend storing on an External SD card only if you don't remove the card from your phone.

It can also help to start over by reinstalling the app. Here's how you can reinstall the app. Be sure to remove all Offline devices from this page before you install the app again.

Hope it helps. Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day!
