Hello, here's my issue:
I don't want to see any notification on my lock screen, so I selected "Don't show notifications at all" under the lock screen preferences in my device settings.
If I do this, in the lock screen I can only see the Spotify cover art but not the play controls.
The only way I can get to see the play controls is if I select "Hide sensitive content" under the lock screen preferences. This will show the Spotify play controls but also those annoying notifications, which I do not want to see on my lock screen.
Why are Spotify play controls treated as notifications? They clearly are not!
Please fix it!
Many thanks
Hey @taiman,
Thanks for letting us know about this.
Let's try these steps:
1. Reinstall the app.
2. Restart the device.
If this doesn't help, please let us know your Spotify version. You can find it in Settings.
Keep us updated 🙂
Have a good day!
Hi Daisy,
Thanks for your reply.
I did try that, nothing changes, issue persist as described.
Latest stock Android, latest Spotify version.
Only shows controls on lock screen with "Hide sensitive content" or "Show all notifications" are selected.
I do not want notifications on my lock screen, but I do want Spotify controls.
This is 100% possible on iOS.
Thanks
Hey @taiman,
Thanks for getting back to me!
This is expected behaviour, play controls are part of the notification. You could see them as a fancy notification 🙂
Let me know if anything is unclear or if you need help with something else.
Have a nice day!
Hi Daisy,
Thanks for your reply.
UX wise, play controls are not a notification, they are indeeed play controls.
Why is the behaviour different across iOS and Android?
I can have no notifications on my lockscreen on iOS but still be able to control Spotify. This is a pretty big deal to me, on Android I now have to pick between being annoyed by the notifications or beying annoyed by having to unlock my phone to change songs.
Far from ideal.
Might this be about to change with the new versions of Android?
Thanks
