Hi,
from a couple of days spotify won't stop playing music when an incoming call arrives.
So I hear both call and music that is very annoying
I have to close the application manually.
Anyone have the same problem and have an idea how to fix it ?
Thank you so much
Solved! Go to Solution.
This is how it work:
https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Reporting-a-bug-How-does-this-work/idi-p/908157
And sadly, from what I can understand, as long as no one from the staff read it, or from the high-end community read this and send it to the staff, nothing is being done nor will be.
So please, for the love of god, anyone that has the authority to make something happen, do so...?!? And to the very least, let us know what is going on with issues instead of leaving us in the dark like this...
57 different people clicked the "I have this problem too" button, and we are now at the 7th page (this is the 61 message!) in this thread, what else is needed for an issue to be taken seriously.

Hello guys
I too have the same problem, with sony xperia z5 lollipop and latest version of spotify with premium.
If you do not solve the problem in a short time I will close my contract premium, professionally when receiving calls and the music remains in the background is something very rude and unfortunately your clinete can not imagine that it is a problem of Spotify
I came up with a solution. I cancelled my spotify subscription today and I now have a google play music family plan for $15/mo which includes up to 6 people. It has more music and so far it seems way less buggy. I listen to music to get away from stress, and spotify was not allowing me to do that with all of it's annoying bugs!
I thought my phone's BT was broken when this started happening... Music suddenly drowning out calls, when it was working fine for months? I actually sent my phone back to the shop for repairs, and they sent it back and said they didn't find any issue on the BT. And now I log on here and see a lot people having this issue, so it was spotify all along? Please, up the priority of this issue... Disabling the app optimisation didn't really seem to work for me...
Edit: To provide some details. Phone is Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9506), android version 5.0.1. I have a car BT phone device for calls (built-in the car) and an aftermarket device for A2DP music (Tune2Air). These devices worked in tandem without issues for several months this summer, I play music via Spotify and whenever I get a call, the music pauses and automatically resumes after the call. Ditto when making a call, used to pause and work fine. Also I use the phone for navigation, and music "ducks" correctly when the nav app reads out instructions. Some time ago I started having the issue that when a call comes in, the music no longer pauses and instead just drowns out the call, making it practically impossible to accept calls. You could pause the music via the phone, but that's not really feasible to do while driving and having the phone stowed away in a box in the car. Happens also when making a call. And the "sound-ducking" when navigating is also affected, in that it doesn't seem to work at the moment (nav instructions play over the music, no volume reduction of music).
Putting spotify to "don't optimise" mode from the battery menu did not have any apparent effect.
Edit 2: I haven't taken note of which Spotify version I have been on while this issue has been occurring, due to the fact I thought my phone was acting up (and I indeed sent it back to the store and just recently got it back). Yesterday this issue happened to me and as I look at my Spotify version now, it is 4.3.0.922. I will test further on this version and report back if it happens every time, or only some of the time when making/receiving calls.
There is something strange about the BT connection in the latest Android version.
I have a lot more small break ups during Spotify streaming to my Volvo system. It's more problems with auto connection to the Volvo system, I have to manually connect it. The Music ID during streaming is not stable anymore, it shows some songs and then it stucks on the same one. If I pick up the phone and go into Spotify it is working again, for some songs.
Hi MacMelmac, general BT breakups seems like a separate issue and not that relevant for this thread. I've also had my share of issues with Samsung BT in terms of reliability and quality, but this "not pausing music when call comes in" seems to be a Spotify-specific issue that is still unresolved. (I will test it more and if I still see the issue, I will remove the "solved" marker from this thread because I suspect it is not actually solved even in the latest Spotify version).
Edit: In case other readers suffer from BT issues on their phones, I did find an app that has pretty much solved those for me. The app is called SoundAbout and it has solved connectivity issues for me on two Samsung phones (S2 and S4) and two different car BT audio setups (Dension Gateway and Tune2Air). It is worth the couple of euros price for Pro license if it solves your issues - you can try and see if it helps.
I tested this yesterday (by making a call) on 4.3.0.922 and it is stil occurring.
I solved the problem and now closed subscription Spotify premium listening perfectly via google play..same music itself and I have no problem spending.
It has nothing to do with crazy app that manage the BT problem there 'even with the speakerphone without BT PROBLEMS' OF SPOTIFY and not solve it !!!!
When Spotify Solve proble maybe I'll just make subscription ..... maybe ....
My Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 just updated to Lollipop. Still have the same problems. Actually seems worse now. This morning, I unplugged my phone while Spotify was running, music again blared throughout my office from the phone instead of stopping as it should, but this time shutting program down didn't stop the music! I had to restart the Spotify app, after I had force shut it down, and pause it. I emailed Spotify about this problem a week or two ago and their tech answer was, as always, to uninstall/reinstall app. I've done that, it doesn't solve the problem and I'm not doing it again. I shouldn't have to reinstall my music app every few months. I directed them to this thread and I hope they're following it.
I had no idea Google Play Music was so similar to Spotify until it was brought up on this thread. I am trying their 30 day free trial and if I have no issues there, I will be staying with Google and ending my Spotify subscription. It's really too bad. I had never thought I would make the move to subscription music unitl I tried Spotify a few years ago. I have mostly loved it. I hope they get this fixed.
Hi folks, I appreciate that you're popping in to let Spotify know you are also having some issues. But let's try and keep it civil and constructive and not just turn the thread into a hate train.
Also it might be helpful if you posted here if you are having the specific issue of "music not pausing during incoming call while streaming via BT", and try and direct other issues to other threads. Cheers!
I have seen nothing hateful (profanity, threats, etc) in any of the posts on this thread. A serious flaw has emerged with the Spotify Android app that makes it almost unusable for heavy users like me. And as the original poster and subsequent posters have noted, this is not a bluetooth specific issue. Spotify is not muting or pausing when other apps pop up and need priority - e.g. phone calls - whether or not the phone is connected to bluetooth. This problem has been present for at least a couple months. Letting Spotify know via this forum that premium subscribers are dropping and going with their competitors, or seriously contemplating it, as a direct result of this specific unresolved problem is totally legitimate.

It seems to me that spotify receipts enough money to solve this problem in a couple of days to a developer. Will is power .... but probably not their main priority
I posted a similar thread before I saw this one . ( very sorry folks , I'm new ! )
Seems as this has been going on a while and spotify really couldn't care .
Google here I come !
Same issue here. Also Sony Z3 Compact (model D5833)... Lollipop 5.1.1... Spotify 4.3.0.922...
Hi,
I had still this problem on my LG G4 with Android 6.0
And sometimes, it won't load the controls on my Wear-Smartwatch (missing controls also on the G4).
I often launch Spotify using Play-Button on my BT head set and using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp2.start.and.play.music.player
mine does the same thing, always has. I have the nexus 6 with 6.0.1 and the latest spofify 4.3.0.922. it does it while on bluetooth and i couldnt even hear the person. I dont know exactly why but a fix would be great. As long as this has been happening i'd figure in one of the MANY updates they push out they would fix
