My Question or Issue

There are two problems; both occur when not in offline mode and when there is no internet. The first is that I am unable to start listening to a downloaded album until I get internet or switch to offline mode. The second is that I am unable to resume a paused song. If I press the play button then it switches the icon to the pause button but it doesn't play. I have to switch to another song to get it to play.

 

My assumption is that both of these stem from the device trying and failing to contact a server, but it seems pathological to fail to just play the music after awhile if it can't contact the server.

I did a clean reinstall and it didn't help.
