Problem with USB DAC

Recently acquired a Topping NX2s.

When connected to my phone, a Samsung Note 4, the audio plays but with frequent popping and crackling sounds every 5-7s.

The frequency of the popping increases when the screen is turned off, so I'm suspecting its something to do with the amount of power being output by the micro USB on the phone.

Strangely enough, this issue does not persist on other audio players or when watching videos through the Android YouTube app.

Anyone has encountered similar or has a fix for this issue? Much appreciated.
