Progress bar starts progressing before music starts [bug]

On the Spotify Android app, the progress bar (i.e. the seconds passed when playing a song) will start moving as soon as a song is selected but often when streaming on a mobile connection the music doesn't actually start until a few seconds after that as it has to buffer.

This means that the time on the progress bar is incorrect and doesn't correspond to the correct point in a song.

It would be far more useful if the progress bar started moving when the music started, like it does on the desktop app.

Is it just for streamed songs? Sounds like it's not caching quickly enough. A clean install may help;

- Black screen on startup

That did not help.

You need to change the app code so that the progress bar does not start moving until the music starts; the current behaviour means it will move as soon as the song is tapped, not when it actually starts playing.

This happens on the desktop app, so why not the mobile (Android) app?
