Hey @ExterCoC,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
Currently there is no way to select a proffered language for the ads you're getting. Ads are automatically generated based on the country/ region you are currently in.
Hope this info clears things up. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.
Hello,
I have been abroad for more tan a month now (The Netherlands) and I started to get my ads in the local language, of which I cannot understand a single word, so it's frustrating when I'm focused working and some guy starts saying what (for me) is gibberish. Is there any way (apart from using a VPN) to choose the ads language and take it back to Spanish or English?
Thanks

Same here. Im in Costa Rica and also getting them, really pointless honestly.
<span;>I am so offended that I keep getting spanish ads i live in virginia and don't know Spanish. I constantly give thumbs down that they don't relate and they continuously are pushed to me. Youtube and pandora as well as many other music platforms don't have this issue. So when I see an excuse like in the picture that nothing is perfect and that nothing can be done is a total lie. I'm starting to believe that the like and dislikes are just ways to see hoelw you can get free customers to start paying for the subscription. One sign of this is the fact that when given a thumbs up to an ad I like don't hear it again and the ads that I give a thumbs down are played way more frequently. Is this how spotify treats it's free listeners? Is it just to generate more money instead of supporting the community? I can guaranty one thing they don't even care about the business's who are paying them to play their ads because who can those business's make any money if the listeners don't even know what the ad is about? the attachment also says this issue was also going on in 2016 it is now 2025 and your telling me they couldn't fix the issue? No they just don't want to and seeing as disliked ads are played more just points to the fact they don't care for their listeners. Also what's up with the song in the attachment? They should've just posted cry me a river or somthing.
same here. completely stupid. i am on vacation in mallorca and get ads in spain i don't understand and even if i did wouldn't be relevant for me as i am s swiss resident and consumer. the region in my account is obviously set to switzerland. but that doesn't help. spotify just makes the wild assumption that as soon as i am abroad for a few days i morph into a local dude. how can this be an ongoing problem for years? millions of ads adressed to people who don't even understand them. a joke really. i'm even a premium user with a subscription but i get ads in certain podcasts (which is a scandal in itself).
I live in Australia and my ads are in a middle eastern language. Why??
Bad enough I pay for premium and get ads every 5mins.
this has got to get fixed. If advertisements are meant to be appealing to the viewer and to convince them to purchase what it is advertising the first step is that they understand the language. I understand that based on region is good for things like if a concert is going to be in your local area but the language should not be affected. Additionally, if you wish to have people use your platform and get invested enough to buy premium you can't just make them listen to things they don't understand. There is a language setting in your settings menu so it is perfectly reasonable to think we would be able to understand the ads we are subjected to. Be better.
Seriously pointless as a consumer to hear an ad half in English and then the other half in Spanish and have no clue what they are saying like “The best part of XZy is…[switched to Spanish]” I’m ok as an English only speaker I guess that advertiser wasted their money and I still have no idea what they get trying to say. It is a waste of advertiser money and user time to be pushed ada in only a langue we don’t understand or ads that are half and half, as we can’t want to buy entered it is jf we don’t know what they are saying.
