Recent March 2018 update causing rapid skipping/stuttering/

Recent March 2018 update causing rapid skipping/stuttering/

Songs just keep skipping ever since today's March 12 2018 update.  Just random skipping, no matter what I play.  Using Android 5.0, and no, there's no update to 6.0.  But that shouldn't matter, it's been playing until today's update.  Tried logging out then back in.  Reboot. Reinstall doesn't work. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET.  I'M A PAYING CUSTOMER.  Sure hope this can be fixed, I'd hate to cancel my subscription, because I'd be chewing nails at that point.

Hey @alpha19611, welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear you're having this anoying issue with your Spotify app.

Just to confirm, is this happening to any song in the Spotify catalog, or your local files? Also, does it happen when you're using external speakers, headphones, or your phone's speaker?

In the meantime, try using a different WiFi or internet connection to use the app and let us know how it goes.

Cheers.

I'm having the same issue with my spotify no matter what method I chose to listen.   It affects local (downloaded) songs that previously had no problem and streamed songs. I tried to redownload the songs over a more stable connection and it got worse.

Hey @Flight1100!

Let's try fully reinstalling your Spotify app to see if it helps. Also, could you send me your Android and Spotify version numbers?

Keep me in the loop.

I have also had the same issue when my phone updated. I have an iPhone 6s+. When I'm in my car using Apple Connect, everything is fine until my phone screen shuts down. Once the phone locks, the music starts to skip and becomes very scratchy. I either have to pause the music and wait 5-7 seconds to play it again or I unlock my phone, pause the music, wait 5-7 seconds then play it.

The issue also happens when I use headphones at my house or even just walking around outside. I am also a premium member and hope this get's resolved ASAP.

I did just reinstall the app, to see if that will help. I'll report back either way.

Yes same issue as Eric on iPhone. Happened after the latest iOS software update. Listen for say 10 seconds with no issue, then screen locks and then pauses playing for 1 second and then starts again but stutters after about 5 seconds. Makes it excruciating to listen to anything. Restart / reset phone and it is fine but then starts happening later in the day. Have reinstalled the app (including losing all downloaded music) and it didn’t fix the issue.

Details on phone are iPhone 7+ on iOS 11.3 (15E216) using Spotify app version 8.4.49.364 which is the latest version on AppStore.

Exactly the same here, happens on fully downloaded songs, even if I put my phone in airplane mode. Headphones or not. It's driving me mad.

Hi, I have exactly the same!! Also a premium costumer. And it’s annoying me big  time. iPhone 6s, software 11.3.1. Doesn’t matter...online, offline, headphone no headphone...it happens all the time. Already installed Spotify on all my devices again...and the problem is still there!!! What is Spotify going to do about this HUGE PROBLEM?? Give us a answer!!!

Hey everyone!

We have an ongoing issue about the skipping and pausing issue. If you're still experiencing this, please head to this thread, vote on it, try the previous suggestions and provide the information requested there.

All the best.

Listen, I’ve done everything....how many times do I need to reinstall, remove memory, download music again etc??? It’s seriously driving me crazy!!! Come with a good solution

Hello - I am having this issue too. On my phone (iphone 7) with headphones plugged in and I am a premium member. I tried restarting the app, deleting and redownloading the app, taking the songs off of saved, downloading them and having them not downloaded. Just about everything - this was happening very rarely for the past few weeks, i would restart the app and it would be fine. Now I can't listen to a full song without it happening. Please help!

Thanks!

Hey @etbarry.

Sorry to hear you're still experiencing this issue.

A few updates have been released for Spotify since March, so let us know your Spotify version numbers.

Also, let us know if it only happens when you use the headphones or if it happens regardless of the audio output.

All the best.
