Songs are too fast

Songs are too fast

On my android phone I have this really weird issue that I feel like the songs are like 1.5 times faster. Maybe it's just me.

Hi there @Lenike45,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on one specific Android phone? What model is it exactly?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Does this affect all content?
  • Could you make a screen recording of the exact behaviour, possibly comparing this to the same song from a different source where it plays "normally"? If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, weโ€™d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

I'm using a Samsung galaxy xcover 5. The weird thing is that it only seems to happen when using the phone speaker or headphone jack. Bluetooth headphones and speakers work perfectly.

Hey @Lenike45,

Thanks for sending us some more info!

Just to check, do you notice any difference after clearing stored cache? Once it's done, try logging out from the app and back in again twice in a row. As odd as this may sound, this should resync your account info.

Another option is to do a clean reinstall, as this will clear cache too, as well as ensure that you're running the latest app version.

If that doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending us a video showing how things look from your end, as mentioned by @Joan earlier in the thread? This will help us get a better understanding of what's happening.

Let us know how you get on.

I have a similar problem with an increase in tempo and pitch. It happens with and without using Bluetooth and on 3 of my devices AND music plays incorrectly in the same manner on YouTube as well with my devices (all Android). The problems started maybe a week ago and I've never come across a problem like this on multiple platforms and devices. I've cleared caches, logged in and out, clean installed on all devices with no improvement. The pitch and tempo are increased ever so slightly and is noticeable more with slower songs that have a simple beat and tone. Acoustic guitar, piano and lead- clean vocals are most noticeably affected. Very frustrating to say the least. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there @mx0eip1

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community and apologies for the delayed reply.

First up, we suggest that you check if the OS of your devices has any pending updates.

If there's no pending updates, could you let us know if you're using any third party apps on the affected devices that might affect the sound settings on them(for example PowerAmp)? We'd also like to know if this happens on the web player or the desktop app as well.

Keep us posted.

I apologize for responding so late I kinda forgot about this chat but it seems like it stopped occurring recently

I'm not sure if this some kind of speeding up on the part of Spotify or this is how some songs naturally play on the albums but some songs play a second or two too fast. It feels off-beat and kind of ruins the song for me. This is just on some songs, not all of them. I am listening to Creed right now and Higher feels to fast. Anyone else notice this? I love Spotify though. Every song I can think of I can find.
