My Question or Issue
This has been happening for the past few months. Songs will suddenly stop and the progress bar will go back to 0:01 second in. This usually happens on the final track of an album but it's also happened one or two tracks before so it may not be related. I've tried uninstalling and redownloading but it eventually happens again. I can't do a clean reinstall as the instructions here say as I can't find that folder. Any help would be great!
EDIT: Sorry just realised I've posted this in the wrong place and it won't let me delete! Can a moderator move this to the Android board or is it ok here?
Hello @Mattspots1,
Thanks for posting this thread in the Community and for the provided details. This helps with the investigation.
If the described behavior stops after a reinstall, there might be corrupted cache which is causing performance issues.
If you're using an SD-card on your phone, could you remove it and take a look at the steps from the clean reinstall help article and test with reinstalling Spotify once again?
Additionally, there's currently an Ongoing Issue thread here where other users have described experiencing something similar. Just to be on the safe side, I recommend checking out the thread and what others have shared there and if this is something that sounds similar to your issue, you can even post your details in the thread.
Appreciate the cooperation and hope to hear from you soon 🙂
Hi Ivelina, Thanks for your response.
I have Spotify installed internally, and was unable to find the file mentioned when looking at the internal storage files (after deleting the app).
I took out the SD card and put it into my computer and it found a Spotify file, however I can't delete it and get this message (attached pic) maybe worth mentioning my SD card was almost full. It won't let me delete anything, does it need formating?
Hey @Mattspots1,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
If you can't delete the files stored on your SD card, it's possible that it could be protected or corrupted. So in this case, to make sure that the SD card is not affecting the proper behavior of the app, we'd recommend reinstalling it by using the same steps previously mentioned, but with the SD card out of your phone to see if it makes any difference.
If the issue persists, it's possible that the issue you're reporting could be the same one that is currently under investigation by internal teams. We'd recommend subscribing to it since any relevant updates will be posted there.
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
I'll try that and let you know if it works, thank you.
Hi, sorry for the late reply but I tried the solution of taking out my SD card and using Spotify without, and that worked for a while but it's just happened again for me, so that can't have been the issue.
Same problem as before - a song stopped suddenly and the progress bar went back to 0:01.
This might be relevant - I've never seen it happen. My phone's screen is always off when this has happened. The music cuts off, I unlock the screen and see the progress bar is at 0:01.
I cleared cache not too long ago too, it's only on 389MB right now.
Any ideas what else could be the issue?
Thanks for the response @Mattspots1 and we appreciate your cooperation.
Having in mind the description of the behavior that you're experiencing, as well as the steps that you've already tested with, this does indeed sound like this Ongoing Issue. With this said, I think it's best to subscribe to the OI thread for upcoming updates on the matter and it'd also be helpful if you could post your details there as well.
Should you need help with anything else, we're here 🙂
