Spotify Android App Sound Quality

The sound quality on Spotify app sounds compressed, or I assume it's stuck on normal quality. I don't hear any difference between Normal, High, or even Extreme, at least I don't think I do. I feel like there's a slight difference but it could be a placebo. On the desktop version the standard quality sounds MUCH better. Is this intentional? 

It could be my earbuds as I don't believe they are capable of the Extreme Quality at least, but the quality still sounds compressed compared to desktop standard quality. 

I'm not sure what could be the problem. Any help on this would be very appreciated!
