Spotify Android app isn't working

Spotify Android app isn't working

For two weeks now my app will not work. Just comes to a black screen and after a minute get the message that the application is not responding.
I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. No luck. Then logged into my account on another android phone. No problem.
Have an LG4.
Really annoyed that I can't get it working.
Please help!

Hello @Stina73, thanks for posting!

It's not cool and definitely it's odd that even after a reinstall of the app the things not working.

So I assume maybe the phone experiencing some problems, I own a G2, and it works fine, so maybe you can try to clear your cache and make a quick restart of the phone. Because the phone should run the app without any problems.

Also if you're installing Spotify on your SD card (if you have) try to install it in the external phone memory + make sure to turn on the updates of the apps, if you've stopped them, because this can cause problems too.

Let me know how the things went after this, thanks! : )

Hi! I uninstalled the app and then restarted my phone, cleared all cache
data and restarted my phone, reinstalled the app and made sure it was
stored in phone memory not on SD card. Still black screen that goes into
saying Spotify will not answer.
Installed a virus detection program on my phone ran that but no problems
reported. All other apps works fine so shouldn't be a phoneproblem, right?
I'm at a loss what to do next.
We have a family subscription and it works for the rest of my family.

I'm here with an update @Stina73

On the account side, everything is fine

I'll ask you for a bit more information you can provide, so the right teams would be able to take a closer look at your issue

  • Your Device OS version
  • How much storage left you have on your phone
  • Check for any firmware updates available for your device/OS

Keep me updated!

Hey back @Stina73

I've got an answer from the staff

Try to remove the SD card from your device, then restart it and see if Spotify will run smoothly after this. We both can agree this is an odd problem, so trying different steps may help to investigate the issue, and what may cause it.

Hope it will work this time : )

I am having this same issue on my Note 8.  I have uninstalled reinstalled several times and checked on my phones software for updates to it as well, but nothing.  I get the black screen and after a while  notification that the app is not working do I want wait, close or send feedback.  Any help is appreciated.

Got the black screen problem on a Samsung Galaxy S8 when opening Spotify. I wiped the cache partition of the phone and the app started working again.

See the following guide how to wipe your cache:

I am having the exact same issue on my Note8.  It has been going on for just under 2 weeks and has not opened once.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice and rebooted multiple times.  Still will not load.  Whats the fix?

I bought a new phone....
Never got it to work again.

I was able to get it working by clearing the cache in the Bios.
