Spotify App keeps crashing on Android

Running Android 5.0 on a Samsung galaxy s5, no SD card. Currently a premium account. On my PC everything works fine. Cannot start the app on the android. I can get it to start by clicking a link for song on Spotify that was sent to me. However, when I try and leave that screen by pressing home or search, app just closes.

I have done a clean uninstall and re-boot several times, including deleting files and cache. And then reinstalled via Play Store. Have tried solutions I saw on the forum relating to airplane mode as well as clearing cache. I am not running any battery saving apps. Have also tried going offline and disconnecting from the internet and then re-connecting – did not help. I also tried removing all devices and then starting the whole process again – still did not work.

Sometimes when I click on Open from the Play Store screen, when I have downloaded the app, the home screen will flash up for a split second before the app simply stops.
