Great idea with WiMP. Just opened an account and the app seems pretty cool at the first look. Will try it out the next month and see if I will miss Spotify.

This is soooo annyoing. How should I be a happy customer without having access to usable software? 

WiMP seems nice, but less songs avaible, sadly. 

But paying ten bucks a month without the satisfying apps is not ok. Is there a way to contact someone and get a real and honest answer? I dont care about tactics and so on, I just want to know what to expect from spotify.

Hi All,

There is a way of using the official Spotify application and forcing it to landscape. I came across and application today called GMD Smart Rotate, and it has the ability to force all applications to landscape. It comes in a free and pro version (£1.24), but both have the ability to force landscape mode.

I also use a program like this. It helps, yes, but spotify on droid tablet is still horrific. You dont get any visuals or whatever when you search for stuff. I want it like the really good iPad app. Not just the green list.

Yes, I agree there is no comparison between the two apps, iPad wins hands down. However as a stop-gap solution its not bad...

Just need Spotify to get their act together and build a dedicated app.

I too really want a tablet app.  The iPad got an app May 2 last year and we paying Android users are left in the dark.  Spotify if you didn't have an Android tablet app ready you should have waited for it to be ready or at least given a date for it.  Same thing happened when iOS users got the radio feature before us.  Android has more than twice the market share, why are we last to get features? Plus the phone app is still very buggy.  Very frustrating.

The market is very quickly swinging towards Android with the lack of iOS updates. The Kindle market as well as the Nexus 7 and other top selling tablets are growing at alarming pace.

It's time to give the Android users a proper app that goes landscape, has all the features and works as it should.

I got a dock for my Nexus 7 recently and couldn't stand Spotify being stuck in portrait mode all the time. So much so, that I wrote a free Android app to force the screen rotation to landscape when your device is in a desk dock: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.chrispaton.forcedockrotation

I know that there are other apps for forcing rotation out there but I could never be bothered to turn them on and off manually. My has no options and flips to landscape when in a desk dock, and flips back to your default settings when you remove your device. Hopefully it's useful to other frustrated Spotify users out there who have a desk dock!

Update: I saw people mentioning that they used car docks so I've updated my app to support these too. I don't have one so let me know if it doesn't work!

I really like spotify, but everytime I open the app on the tablet it makes me cringe... I almost exclusively run spotify on my android devices, and I won't put up with this for much longer...

Totally agree! - when will mobile app developers start realising that Android=the futue and iOS=the past?

It is getting really anoyed to not have a Tablet version for android. I canceled my subscription because of this.

Can't believe there isn't a tablet app for android. Have cancelled my pro subscription until this gets sorted. Could you at least inform us if there is going to be one?

I think the reason there isn't an Android tablet app is due to the fact that developers are used to making iOS apps that don't have to be combined. They are used to it being expanded and just looking OK and people that use iPad's etc. just accepting the fact that they don't have an iPad UI.

This, obviously, is very different on Android, as the apps are all combined and the developer has to add everything into the same app (although this cane be done for iOS as well). As well as that, Android users aren't as forgiving to developers that don't allow them to use the app in a landscape mode, and also if they don't have a nice tablet ui.

LANDSCAPE MODE on the android app would be a huge start for tablets!!!! They don't need a whole separate app right away if they would just implement landscape mode!!!!!!

I agree. This is getting ridicoulus, how come Spotify has not developed a proper interface for tablet users.

To Spotify:

a) The app won't rotate for tablet users - are you kidding me?

b) Too see the complete Top Lists I have to log on to my laptop and use the PC application - if you are serious about being part of the future don't leave Android tablet users with something that feels like 1999... The tablet app should at least be as good as the PC app.

Get this sorted out ASAP, although you teamed up with Facebook doesn't mean you have to be part of the past (like Apple and Facebook is). Lead, don't follow!

I'd love an android tablet app too. As for lanscape mode, there are plenty of 3rd party apps in Google Play which will rotate Spotify although without a tablet redesign, it's pretty ugly. Try Smart Rotator maybe.
