Spotify Notification appears on Bluetooth or Charger connection. How can I disable?

Whenever I connect a bluetooth device to my phone or plug it into the charger, the Spotify notification is in my notification tray, even if I'm listening to another app. It's annoying that I have to constantly swipe it away. Please direct me to a disable mechanism or create one. The "accepted solution" to disable all Spotify notifications from the previous thread on a similar thread isn't acceptable. I still want playback controls available when I am listening to Spotify.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. We'll definitely be able to help out. 

How long has this been going on for? Did it start happening after an app update? If you haven't already done so, try a reinstall to see if it helps.
