My Question or Issue

The app gets stuck such that it keeps playing music through a Bluetooth device but the song is the first one on that Playlist. Similar behavior on Android Auto.

I updated the app yesterday.

Also, the play/pause button doesn't do anything when this happens.

Thanks for reaching out. This sounds a bit odd and we'll do our best to help you out here.

 

Can you let us know if you've already tried to log out > restart your device > log back in? It's also a good idea to try a clean reinstall  (which is more thorough than a regular one) to clear any old files that might be causing issues.

 

We can also recommend to try disconnecting the Bluetooth devices and connecting them again to see if that helps.

 

If that doesn't do it for you, you can take a look at this Ongoing issue that we have that seems to match what you're experiencing and subscribe via the 3 dot menu on the right for updates.

Hi,

 

I have a similar issue between my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and premium Spotify account. Both my OS and the app are up to date with the latest versions installed. However, the app keeps freezing regularly when I try to scroll through songs/podcast episodes/my queue. It also won't re-order any podcast episodes without restarting the app. Occasionally the app freezes completely; it looks as if nothing is happening and the sound is paused, but music is usually still going on. Pressing the play/pause button may help, but the app itself won't indicate that anything has changed even if the sound stops (which doesn't happen every time). If I leave the sound on, it will keep pausing itself without me having done anything. The only thing that helps with this is restarting the whole phone, but it is pretty tedious to do this often multiple times a day, or even every time I try to listen to something. 

 

Thanks for your help, hopefully this will get figured out and I can get back to enjoying my listening experience without interruptions! 🙂

Could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? That way we can avoid any repeating steps. If you haven't tried the ones suggested in this thread, we'd recommend giving them a try to see if they do the trick.

 

Also, would you mind letting us know if this is happening while you're streaming on a different device via Bluetooth?

 

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.
