Spotify acting up on Android

Spotify acting up on Android

First, the app would always crash whenever I'd be in the underground. Now, the toggle for the the notification panel has disappeared. Which means i have to unlock my phone and go on the app everytime I want to change the song. What is going on with these Android updates?

Hi Butwhyffs. Welcome to the Spotify Community!

First things first, could you provide the model and operating system of your Android device? Do you mean before, you can skip tracks when you're on the lock screen?

Lastly, have you tried reinstalling the app to see if that fixes the issue? The reinstallation steps are located here.

Thanks,

marlonespi

Hi marlonespi,

Thank you for your reply.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s6, I don't know what the operating system is. Yes, before I could see the song playing and skip songs on the lock screen. Now, I have to go to the app itself everytime.

I did try reinstalling the app, it seems to have fixed the previous problem of the app crashing everytime I was in the underground. But now it's affected the toggle on the notification panel.

I've attached screenshots so you can see what I'm talking about. In the second one, music is playing.

Thank you.

Check android settings>notifications>advanced>spotify and make sure that "allow notifications" and "previews in pop-ups" are enabled.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your email.

I checked and they are enabled. I don't think that's the problem.

Thank you.

Hi Butwhyffs,

It's also happening to me and I needed to re-open the Spotify app and hit the Play button to continue playing the song I'd like to listen to. But that doesn't seem to annoy me though, I hope you're not too.

So, I would instead recommend contacting Spotify directly as they may be able to look into this issue. Tell them you reinstall the Spotify already and before, you can do it without changing any of your features. For sure, they will not leave you behind.

You can reach out to them here, on Twitter with the @SpotifyCares handle, or on their Facebook page.

Thanks!
