My Question or Issue

Hello everyone! I'm going through a big issue at the moment with my spotify application. For more context, previously when I use my bluetooth earbuds (Jabra Elite 3) and connect them to my phone (Oppo Reno 5), I have no issues whatsoever, be it listening to Youtube, Spotify, etc. However, just yesterday Spotify kept crashing whenever I try to launch it with my earbuds connected. When my earbuds are not connected, I can launch it with no issues whatsoever. I have already tried the recommended solutions, but to no avail. I have already done a deep clean reinstall with the app, restarted my phone multiple times, and whatnot. This is a huge inconvenience to me as I always use my earbuds and listen to music throughout the day. I have even paired and unpaired my bluetooth earbuds to my phone. With the earbuds connected, I have no issues doing anything else such as listening to Youtube, or even Spotify Web Player on mobile, but the app always crashes, and will only not crash when the earbuds are disconnected. I am genuinely confused as to what the issue is, so I really would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you!

Hi all, suffering from the same problem with pretty much identical setup. OnePlus 9 Pro, Android 12, Spotify crashes immediately when connected to Jabra Elite 3 with aptX. Restart of phone and clearing of app data won't fix the issue. Problem has started within the last week.

EDIT: Learned from another thread that revoking the "Nearby devices" permission for Spotify might fix this, and it did it for me. If Spotify asks for the permission again when starting, deny.

Same issue here

Same issue with OnePlus 9 and Jabra elite 4 active earbuds. Really annoying and revoking nearby devices didn´t help.

Just want to report I'm having the same issue with a Sony Xperia 5 ii (Android 12) and Sony Linkbuds. Spotify version 8.7.16.1354.  Spotify crashes immediately upon starting when the Bluetooth earbuds are connected. If I launch Spotify first, then connect the earbuds that also causes an immediate crash of Spotify.

This problem started yesterday for me, not directly after an update of either the Spotify app or Android version.

Turning off nearby device permissions for Spotify is preventing further crashes.

Me too, I have an Oneplus 9 and it keeps crashing every time I try to connect my Jabra headphones

Hi! Where can I find this setting as Im facing the same issue?

If you go into Android settings and find Spotify within the apps section, you will be able to see the permissions the app has and change them to disable nearby devices.

Hey folks,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

Just to confirm, could you check if this happens in a device running an older Android versión? With this, we can have a better look at the issue.

Also, make sure that Spotify is set as an exception in any cache-clearing or memory optimizing features. These options are usually located on the Battery optimization section of the settings of mobile devices.

We'll be waiting for your response.

While I'm not able to test Spotify with an older version of Android, I can confirm the problem persists with the latest Spotify version 8.7.18.1138 as long as the "nearby devices" permission is granted. Disabling battery optimization or toggling "allow background operations" option don't seem to affect the situation.

I too had this issue only with my Bose headphones/earbuds, other devices worked just fine, but denying permission for nearby devices fixed it. My phone is OnePlus 9 Pro and never had these issues with Android 11, but for a few weeks Android 12 worked normally too.

I have the same issue on Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G with latest MIUI 13. Reverted to spotify-8-7-10-1262, this is the only version that does not crash. This is very annoying as I cannot let Spotify update to the latest version due to this issue.

Same issue. oneplus 8t and Jabra Elite 3.

I can confirm that previous version 8.7.16.1354 still has the same issue on the Oneplus 8T, with the Jabra Elite 3.

I have the same issue that the Spotify app crashes as soon as I connect my Sony Linkbuds with my Sony mobilephone (Android 12)

I already updated Spotify app + Linkbuds App and Android software to the latest available version, reinstalled Spotify and clear the data and cache.

here my specs:

Sony Xperia 1 II XQ-AT51

Build-Nummer 58.2.A.80 Android 12
Sony Linkbuds fireware 1.0.4
Headphones app version 8.5.1
Spotify app 8.7.18.1138

after revoking the 'Nearby devices' right for Spotify the app stopped crashing.

can you please fix this issue?
I always send the crash report to you when it happened

PS: The Spotify Tab feature does not work too. Maybe thats connected? Some of the Headphones are listet here are Spotify Tab compatible devices.

I have the same issue with my POCO X3 Pro (Android 12), latest Spotify version and Jabra Elite 3 earbuds.

(the hint revoking the 'nearby devices' worked for me)

Have same problem with miu13 and Jabra Elite 3. It's solved.

Thanks

Same here! (Xperia 5 II + Bose NC700)

Everything updated with latest software available.

Same issue with sony linkbuds, xperia 5ii running Android 12 Build 58.2.A.80, Spotify version 8.7.18.1138. Revoking nearby device permission seems to fix the issue but that is an issue as I do use nearby devices. Linkbuds version is 1.04. Most recent Android update seemed to be the cause.

Same problem

Happens to me as well with skullcandy push active, after my POCO was updated

Problème identique avec Oneplus 8t et Jabra Elite 3
