Spotify borked in Android auto

Problem has been ongoing for about a month now. Requesting a song from Spotify on Android auto gets a response, but the song stutters and stops, then affects other music apps. 

If I delete Spotify, the system works as it is should. I'm a premium subscriber considering other services. I use Spotify almost exclusively in my car. If it's not going to work  I need to find other options.

I reverted back to version 8.4.44.661 and we seem to be back in business. What's the best way to debug this and get the info to the developers?
