Spotify car controls not working since updates from 2.5 weeks ago

My Question or Issue

Since the Spotify updates 2.5 weeks ago the car controls on my Mini Cooper no longer work, and the app is far more buggy than before.

i have tried all the suggestions about clearing data, cache, permissions, battery optimisation off, uninstall, reinstall (about 20 times). Nothing works. If I uninstall latest version of Spotify and install version 8.4.99.111 it all works perfectly again, so latest version has clearly introduced many bugs.

Please resolve.
